Nelly couldn’t stop grinning as he finally confirmed his reunion with Ashanti, nearly a decade after their split.
The Air Force Ones rapper, 48, and Foolish singer, 42, previously dated for around 11 years before calling time on their relationship in 2014.
However, they recently sent fans into a spin when they were spotted looking very cozy during a performance in April, with many pleading for answers on whether they had rekindled their romance.
Appearing on Boss Moves with Rasheeda, the host wasted no time in asking Nelly the question that was on all our minds.
He remained coy when discussing their bond, telling her: ‘Yeah, we’re cool again…
‘I think it surprised both of us, though. It wasn’t anything that was planned. I think we both were pretty much doing what we do.
‘But, sometimes being separate, you understand one another more … and see maybe what they see. We all can be defensive sometimes in our relationships and we know we’re wrong, but we’re going to stand on it. We’re all a victim to that.’
When asked whether things felt ‘good’ during their second time of dating, the musician explained that there was just ‘no pressure’ on them.
‘Yeah. I mean because it’s no pressure,’ he added. ‘Before I felt like both of us are doing what we’re doing career wise. And when you got so many people in the middle of it, it can be tough.’
The lovebirds initially started dating in 2003, before going their separate ways after more than a decade of dating.
Ashanti has remained fiercely guarded about her love interests ever since, but recently delved into her private life during a candid with Metro.co.uk, to promote The Plus One.
Discussing how her approach to dating has changed as she got older, she told us: ‘It’s not too different but what I will say is I’m more patient now than in the beginning. When you first start dating you’re like, “I want this to happen now etc”, and I will admit I’m a tiny bit spoiled.
‘Sometimes I want my way but as you get older you have to understand it’s about compromise, sacrifice and just having patience.’
‘Everything else is the same but you just got to have more patience now.’
