Outlander: Season 7 part 2 teaser for STARZ drama
Many will know actress Maria Doyle Kennedy from her role on the hit Starz show Outlander, where she plays Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan)’s Aunt Jocasta.
However, Maria looks a world away from her character on the fantasy drama in a throwback photo of her from over 30 years ago.
Maria can be seen at the premiere for the 1991 movie The Commitments, alongside her two co-stars Bronagh Gallagher and Angeline Ball.
In the black and white photograph Maria looks markedly different, as can be expected given the number of years in between.
Maria played Natalie Murphy in the musical comedy-drama based on the 1987 novel of the same name by Roddy Doyle.

The movie tells the story of Jimmy Rabbitte (Robert Arkins) who puts together a band made up of working-class youths, with Maria, Bronagh and Angeline all providing vocals for the band.
The Commitments was set in Dublin, where the premiere was also held.
Maria can be seen with a completely different long flowing hairstyle, compared to how she wears it nowadays both in real life and on Outlander.
Maria has also starred in a vast array of movies and television shows over the years. On the big screen fans might have spotted her in Sing Street, The Conjuring 2, Jupiter Ascending and Byzantium.

While the Irish actress has had prolific roles on Orphan Black, where she played Siobhán Sadler, The Tudors, where she played Catherine of Aragon and Dexter, where her character was called Sonya.
She’s also had guest roles on everything from Father Ted and Call the Midwife, to Downton Abbey and Amazon Prime Video’s The Wheel of Time.
In addition to her acting talents, Maria is also a signer, which might explain her casting in The Commitments all those years ago.
She has released nine solo studio albums and two live albums, as well as two albums as a member of The Black Velvet Band.
Maria has played Jocasta Cameron in Outlander since 2018 when she was first introduced to fans in season four.
Her character was actually one of the first that Jamie and Claire (Caitríona Balfe) visited when they first arrived on the Continent.
As Jamie’s maternal aunt, Dougal MacKenzie (Graham McTavish) and Colum MacKenzie (Gary Lewis) are her brothers, with Ellen Fraser (Anita Hegh) being her sister. She has also married four times, after tragically losing her first three husbands.
Fans will need to tune in to see how the story progresses for Jocasta and her family in upcoming episodes.
Outlander airs on Starz in the US and streams on Lionsgate+ in the UK.
