Strictly: Angela Scanlon impresses Shirley with first dance
Strictly Come Dancing hopeful Angela Scanlon has given a rare insight into her family life as she opened up about gruelling training for the show on Monday.
The presenter took to Instagram to share a lengthy post about just how hard it had been juggling Strictly with her life as a mum of two and how her husband Roy Horgan had been her biggest support.
Angela, 39, began by thanking “all the people” in her life, particularly her spouse, for their love, support and well wishes.
She went on to say taking part on the show with two children “is a lot” and admitted she “didn’t realise” just how intense juggling rehearsals, her children’s schedules and her own work would be.
The Strictly hopeful admitted she had put “so much pressure” on herself to fulfil her commitments and felt “guilty when that fantasy falls apart”.

After another “intense” week on the show, Angela said her and her husband went for a “long, lazy lunch” at one of her favourite places for some much needed relaxation.
She added: “When we went to leave my husband told me I was staying… ALONE. I have never loved him more. I had a massage, ordered chips in bed & was asleep at 8pm and slept until 7- uninterrupted!!!
“I ate breakfast & my clothes are still clean. I feel recharged & ready to go again x.” (sic)
Gushing over her spouse, she added: “To have someone in your life who knows you so deeply & gives you what you need when you can’t always give it to yourself is magic.
“Thank you thank you thank you. You’re my favourite xx.”

Angela went on to shout out fellow parents “pushing through every day” with “no days off” and “Calpol at the ready,” adding: “We’ve got this.”
The Virgin Radio host has been married to businessman Roy since 2014 and they share two young daughters, whose identities she keeps away from the public eye.
After her latest post, Angela was inundated with comments from many of her fans and co-stars including her dance partner Carlos Gu.
He simply wrote: “My girl,” alongside a series of love hearts.
Angela’s hard work is certainly paying off, having earned consecutive high scores and avoiding the dance-off on the show so far.
Last week, she and Carlos scored an impressive 33 out of 40 points for their Black Swan-themed Paso Doble.
Earlier this month, they also topped the leaderboard after wowing judges with their Charleston routine.
The dancing duo will return to the dance floor this weekend in the hope of making it one step closer to the Glitterball.
Strictly Come Dancing continues Saturday at 7.05pm on BBC One.
