Vigil viewers slate 'unforgivable' Air Force scenes – raging that BBC has got second series 'completely wrong' | The Sun

VIGIL viewers have slated the 'unforgivable' Air Force scenes as they were left raging online.

Fans of the show have slammed the BBC as they say that the corporation got second series 'completely wrong'.

Vigil is the police serial drama that stars the Suranne Jones in the role of Detective Chief Inspector Amy Silva.

Former Game Of Thrones star Rose Leslie plays Detective Sargeant Kirsten Longacre alongside the former Coronation Street actress.

Much of the first series was set in Scotland and a lot of the action took place on a Royal Navy ballistic missile submarine.

The first three episodes of the highly-anticipated second series aired this week and the verdict is in.

This time, the Air Force is in the spotlight as the pair enter the closed ranks of divisions in Scotland and the Middle East.

However, both military experts and viewers have slammed the second series for what they deemed as continued inaccuracies.

Although the show is not depicting the Royal Air Force, that did not stop viewers as they took to X – formerly known as Twitter.

TV fans were left reeling in their droves as they condemned the show for what they deemed as 'wrong' production elements.

One former Royal Air Force veteran raged: "Hopefully #Vigil will improve but as a Royal Air Force Veteran I resent the unforgivable inaccuracies.

They continued: "E.g. dropping Royal off the name incorrect cap badges, failures in dress code, just to list a few. It had the potential to be a gripping drama but so far it’s pants."

A second viewer fumed: "#BBC on #Vigil proving that they can not only get naval uniforms and rank insignia wrong in series 1 they can also get it completely wrong for the RAF in series 2 as well! Perhaps it's done on purpose to show us it's supposed to be a comedy?"

"Im sorry but #Vigil is shockingly bad. Who are their advisors? Wrong uniform (beret/cap badges), ranks keep changing and who the fuck are the British Air Force?", noted another.

As a fourth user posted: "#Vigil oh dear! Watched a few minutes; Drones with fixed position cameras, machine-gun drone with no source of ammo, Command aware of bandit drones but do not take cover / protect their high-status visitor, Air Marshal left like a fish out of water, mouth open & staring. Bye!"

"I see #Vigil has skimped on the uniform budget. 3 minutes in and I’m having OCD fits of the “wing commander’s” decided non-officer beret badge," claimed a fifth.

As a sixth user added: "BUT the blue jackets the Air Force Officers wore are NEVER, EVER WORN LIKE THAT! My CO used to shout – “It’s not a cardigan- zip it up or take it off"!"

And a seventh viewer added: "Quite liked #vigil, but why do they get all the details wrong? The "British Air Force" was definitely the low point. Although "I'll caution you" after asking the questions is up there."
