Sky News viewers were left confused after the channel was forced off air during a live broadcast this morning. The Breakfast with Anna Jones show was cut short at around 9:30am on Friday morning, with presenters being forced to evacuate the building.

Viewers were then shown a documentary on the Windrush generation instead of the usual breakfast show. Presenter Anna later returned on-screen to issue an apology to viewers for the interruption and explained what had happened.

She said: “Apologies for the interruption to breakfast there, we had a fire alarm that went off in the building. We are back on track now. Before the clarification, fans took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share their confusion about what had happened while they were watching the show.

One viewer wrote: “Sky news has not long had a fire alarm issue that disrupted their broadcast. I wondered what was going on BUT did enjoy the Windrush report, should of let Ryan run until the end.” (sic)

Another person said: “oh @SkyNews has gone off air thats odd,” while a third added: “Very strange. Briefly had a holding screen and now playing an old prerecord on windrush.” (sic)

A fourth expressed: “Hope all is well. Probably a fire alarm or something silly, hopefully.”

This comes after Sky News presenter Kay Burley was forced off air as she missed the Sky News live show last week.

The presenter, 62, has since confirmed the reason why she was unable to host the programme.

Taking to social media, she shared a shocking snap to her 47,000 Instagram fans which confirmed she had an allergic reaction. In the image, Kay’s face is seen looking very swollen and red.

In the caption she wrote: “When allergies prevent you from being on the TV. Sorry to have missed you all today.”

Kay joined Sky News back in 1988 and has been a popular face on the network for over 35 years. Since being unwell she has not appeared on the breakfast show since her absence on Thursday.

The TV veteran presents four days a week with her colleague Anna Jones taking over on Fridays.

Despite giving the update to her fans she did not go into detail about what caused the allergic reaction and it is unclear when the anchor will return to work.
