While the idea of Piers Morgan fumbling his way through the tango on Strictly Come Dancing conjures up amusing images, he claims the BBC couldn't afford him.
The former Britain's Got Talent judge says he was eyed up for the 2022 series. However, the money put on the table apparently was not enough to seal the deal so he turned it down.
He told The Sun: “Strictly asked me last year. There wasn’t enough money. If you want me to humiliate myself on a dance floor, I was offered $150,000 by Dancing With The Stars in America when I was doing America’s Got Talent.

It seems he would be tempted if they offered him more. He continued: “And I said, ‘Come back to me if it’s $1.2million [£999k]’. They haven’t come back yet.”
When asked whether he'd ever rethink his decision to turn down Strictly, he replied: “I don’t want to put the other contestants under that kind of pressure. Look at this natural dancing torso."
Due to his polarising personality, Ant and Dec always felt he'd make an exceptional campmate on 'I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here'. However, he's turned his back on competing on television as a contestant since getting sacked by Lord Sugar on a Celebrity special of 'The Apprentice' nearly two decades ago.
Last year, he took to Twitter to reveal why he decided to give the jungle the snub. In a public message to the pair of Geordie presenters, he wrote: “On balance, I’d rather eat my own testicles.”
Over the years, Piers has made a living from delivering his opinions. Whether it be on popular topics on Good Morning Britain or as a judge on talent shows on either side of the Atlantic, he always manages to divide opinion.
At this current point in his career, he's hosting his own show on Talk TV. And unsurprisingly, 'Piers Uncensored' has welcomed an array of guests.
Over the last year, the television personality has interviewed the likes of controversial influencer Andrew Tate, who came on the show to discuss his divisive comments on women. He recently interviewed UFC boss Dana White.
