GMB: Hilarious moment John Cleese tells Ed Balls to shut up
John Cleese told Good Morning Britain host Ed Balls to shut up after the ITV star made a jibe over his new role.
The acting icon appeared on the breakfast show to speak about the upcoming reboot of Fawlty Towers along with his new GB News programme called Dinosaur Hour.
Speaking more about why he wanted to join the broadcaster, John commented: “They made me the best offer anyone has ever made anyone in television.
“They came to me…”
Cutting in, Ed swiped: “You’re the only presenter joining them rather than leaving at the moment.”

As Susanna made an awkward chuckle, John asked him to repeat his comment before admitting the broadcaster was “clearing out” a certain amount of people which isn’t a bad idea.
He added: “They do believe in free speech, I never had-”
Interrupting again, Ed commented: “Get the old blood out and the new blood in.”
However, it looked as though John was fed up with the presenter cutting his sentences off and decided to scold him.

John fumed: “Will you shut up? He’s getting another question in. Would you like to tell me which one you want me to answer?”
As Susanna Reid and Ed laughed at John’s blunt response, the GMB presenter quickly tried to recover as he confessed it’s what interviewers do.
Picking up on John’s previous comment about GB News making him the best offer, Susanna questioned if he meant that in a financial sense.
John admitted: “No not financially! They came to me and said, ‘Would you like to make 10 programmes, you can do anything that you like’.
“Nobody has ever said that to anyone because most television executives, like you both know, have no idea what they’re doing. They want to control things.”
Susanna quickly replied: “I’d never say that about my bosses!”
As the interview drew to a close Ed tried to read from the autocue to tell viewers what was coming up, although John decided to get back at the host by talking over him like Ed had done in the interview.
