Gemma Winter betrays Jenny Connor over the Rovers in Coronation Street | The Sun

THE Rovers Return is due to be shut down during an upcoming trip to Weatherfield, leaving staff members jobless.

To top it all off, Gemma Winter betrays Jenny Connor following the bad news next week in Coronation Street.

Jenny (portrayed by Sally Ann Matthews) recently found out that Leo Thompkins had been murdered as his body was found on a building site.

Shaken by the news, Jenny also has to face the possibility that she will never be at the head of the Rovers Return Inn ever again, a business she'd bought with her late husband Johnny in 2018.

Forced to turn over a new leaf and devastated to learn Leo was actually killed, Jenny finds small comfort in the form of her new beau Stephen Reid (Todd Boyce).

Coming up next week on ITV, Stephen tells Jenny that he wants to take her on holiday to Thailand to get away from everything.

But the Waterford’s Manager soon arrives with jaw-dropping news.

The Rovers will not only be closed down for an extensive refurbishment but the staff members' contracts have all been terminated with immediate effect.

Everyone is thrown into a spin but can they save the pub?

Weatherfield solicitor Adam Barlow (Sam Robertson) steps in to help and insists there’s a case for unfair dismissal.

However, when DS Swain calls to tell Jenny they now have proof that neither Leo nor his father Teddy visited Canada, her mind goes elsewhere.

As Jenny argues that Teddy contacted Stephen from Canada, Stephen inwardly panics.

Jenny has no idea that Stephen killed Theo in September, 2022, but also murdered his father Teddy earlier this year.

While the truth remains to be revealed, there's another shock headed Jenny's way next week.

Jenny and Stephen later move in with Rita Tanner (Barbara Knox) but assure her that they won’t be under her feet for long as hopefully they will soon be off to Thailand.

On the street, Jenny, Glenda Shuttleworth (Jodie Prenger), Daisy Midgeley (Charlotte Jordan), Sean Tully (Antony Cotton) and Gemma Winter (Dolly-Rose Campbell) watch emotionally as the Waterford’s workmen start boarding up the Rovers.

When Gemma reveals that she’s applied for the deputy manager role with Waterfords, Daisy is fuming, as she assumed it would go to Jenny.

Gemma has gone through her share of struggles in recent months, particularly financial as she has been trying to provide for her large family.

The perfect opportunity seemed to come to her when her former boyfriend Henry Newton rocked up Weatherfield with a promising job offer.
