Corrie’s Peter Barlow death sealed in dramatic twist as actor quits show

Corrie’s Peter Barlow is set to depart Weatherfield in the coming months – and now AI has predicted he could be getting killed off.

Soap veteran Chris Gascoyne, has played fan-favourite Peter on the long-running ITV soap on-and-off since 2000.

And throughout his 23-year-stint, he’s been involved in a slew of dramatic and big storylines, including the character’s many affairs and battle with alcohol.

But in July, it was reported that Chris was saying goodbye to the cobbles, with a source claiming he feels it’s the “right time” for him to pursue other projects.

And now, it’s been “revealed” that Peter might just be getting killed off in a rather “dramatic” and “emotional” twist.

Daily Star has quizzed one of the world’s most popular artificially intelligent “creative” tools Bard AI to see if Peter could be getting killed off from the soap.

“It is possible that Peter Barlow could be killed off in Coronation Street following Chris Gascoyne's departure,” the program said.

It went on: “This is the most dramatic option, but it's not impossible. Peter has already survived a number of close calls, but he's also been through a lot in his life.

“It's possible that he could finally succumb to one of his many health problems, or that he could be killed in an accident.”

The AI system also claimed: “Killing off a character is a common way to write out an actor who is leaving a soap opera. It can be a dramatic and emotional way to end their storyline, and it can also be a way to create a lasting impact on the show and its characters.”

As viewers will know Peter hasn’t had an easy ride throughout his life in Weatherfield, what with his battle with booze, and apparently this could play into the character's death.

“Peter has a history of drug addiction and mental health problems. These are both serious issues that could lead to his death, either directly or indirectly. For example, he could relapse into drug use and overdose, or he could suffer a mental breakdown and take his own life,” the program said.

It comes after Chris was confirmed to be taking part in a pantomime later this year.

The actor was inundated with praise and support from fans after The Alban Arena in Saint Albans made an exciting announcement about their panto line-up for this year.

The theatre's social media account penned: "EXCITING PANTO NEWS. The Alban Arena are delighted to announce Coronation Street Legend Chris Gascoyne will star as Captain Hook in The All New Adventures of Peter Pan this pantomime season!

Chris Gascoyne is famous for his role as Peter Barlow in Britain’s top soap, Coronation Street (ITV) in which he has led numerous high-profile storylines to great acclaim.

"This promises to be our most spectacular pantomime yet with stunning sets, dazzling costumes, and a star-studded cast, this is a must-see show for the whole family.
