Coronation Street: The Barlow’s interrogate Peter
Coronation Street’s Peter Barlow (played by Chris Gascoyne) is set to leave the cobbles at Christmas and has already filmed his exit scenes.
Chris revealed back in July that he would be leaving the role after 23 years, but it has been said the door has been “left open” so the star can return.
The Peter Barlow actor has been seen filming in and around Manchester’s Metrolink with the tram he was travelling on set for Piccadilly.
In pictures obtained by the Manchester Evening News, the tram could see Peter setting off for pastures new away from the city.
Peter has recently been struggling to come to terms with the fact he had killed Stephen Reid (Todd Boyce) despite what he thought was saving Jenny Connor’s (Sally-Ann Matthews) life.

He was investigated by the police after Audrey Roberts (Sue Nicholls) wanted some justice for what had been done to her son, despite his crimes.
However, after thinking he was going to prison for his actions, Peter was told that there was insufficient evidence to show he had premeditated the murder and he had no way of knowing that Stephen wasn’t going to harm Jenny.
After being let go by the police, Peter began to struggle to get over his actions and took himself off to some AA meetings to stop his alcoholism relapsing.
Chris recently opened up about his exit and told Digital Spy: “Well, he has just killed someone so there are so many storylines that can come out of that and so many reasons that he might not be around any more.
“All I will say is I am delighted with my exit storyline. The scripts are superb and I can’t wait to see the reaction to how Peter leaves the street.

“Peter is struggling with his demons. He has always had lots of enemies, but at the end of the day, he is his own worst enemy.
“He is the one that has suffered at his own hands the most emotionally and we can see this starting to happen again. It is a turbulent time ahead.”
His on-screen wife and co-star Alison King also touched on how his exit makes her feel and told Express.co.uk: “I hate it when he leaves me.
“It is horrible but luckily I just hand him over to his normal wife and let her have him for a bit.
“Then he comes back and he can have his on-screen wife back but yeah it never feels like we are far away from each other because we know each other so well now…
“So yeah it is alright, it will be alright it will all come out in the wash.”
Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
