Blue Bloods episode 13 promotional clip
Blue Bloods has officially been cancelled, with network CBS announcing that the final ever installment will be released to fans next year, with the first part dropping in February and a second arriving in the autumn.
The multi-generational drama has been running steadily since 2010 and rose to peaks of fame following the patriarch Frank Reagan (played by Tom Selleck) whose iconic mustache has become engrained in pop culture.
In a statement to People, the lead actor gushed over the sensational role he’s kept a firm grip on for the last 275 episodes.
He declared it an “honor and privilege” to have worked on a show that “celebrates the men and women who protect and serve in New York City” and “displayed the importance of family”.
Branding the cast and crew a “dream come true”, the 78-year-old thanks the network for their “steadfast support” and the countless fans across the world who “gathered with us for dinner every Friday night”.
In a joint statement, Amy Reisenbach, president of CBS Entertainment, and David Stapf, president of CBS Studios, said the drama series would “forever be a beloved part of CBS’ legacy” for its “unprecedented dominance” that hasn’t waned in the last 13 years.
Ahead of the devastating announcement, Blue Bloods still held the number one primetime slot on the network and raked in a sensational 9.54 million viewers over the last year.
The final season is expected to begin on February 16 with the first 10 episodes and end in the autumn with eight episodes celebrating the last days of Frank, Jamie, Danny, Sean and Erin Reagan.

Fans lamented the news on X, with a number searching for answers behind the cancellation while others questioned why the eight-episode drop in the autumn wouldn’t simply be considered season 15.
Many dubbed it the “end of an era” but some fans were beyond distraught and took it out on the network writing: “Hope CBS tanks for doing this to our show.”
Even some who admitted they weren’t particular fans of the show appreciated that “it’s strange to think of no Blue Bloods on Friday nights”.
