BBC Breakfast in fresh hosting shake-up with beloved star missing from show AGAIN | The Sun

BBC Breakfast has found itself in a fresh hosting shake-up as a beloved star was missing from the show today.

The first programme of the new week saw Jon Kay return to the red sofa alongside Sally Nugent, having had last week off for a holiday to Cornwall.

But while Jon, 53, was back in the BBC Breakfast studio, weather presenter Carol Kirkwood was nowhere to be seen.

Carol, 61, was missing from the programme at the end of last week as well, with Sarah Keith-Lucas stepping in to replace her on Thursday and Friday.

Today, it was Matt Taylor who stepped up to present the latest weather from around the UK.

Matt looked dapper in his suit with a white shirt and pink tie as he updated viewers on the wet weather front that was moving in from the west over the next few hours.

Last week, Carol left some viewers concerned after she presented the weather minus her engagement ring.

“The red warning is serious. But not as worrying as Carol Kirkwood not wearing her engagement ring on BBC Breakfast this morning. Hope all is OK?” one wrote on social media.

Carol announced her engagement back in May last year, and later confirmed her fiance is Steve Randall, a fitness enthusiast who is thirteen years her junior.

Earlier this year, Carol opened up about the unexpected moment, saying: "We were friends before we became romantically involved so we knew each other quite well before we started dating.
