Bargain supermarket is selling Christmas dinner for just £4 a head – but is it the cheapest? | The Sun

SUPERMARKET chain Asda is selling a Christmas dinner for just £4 a head but you might be wondering if it's the cheapest option.

The cost of presents, parties and food can rack up over the festive period so you should be looking for ways to save money where possible.

Now, Asda has announced it is selling a frozen Christmas dinner for a family of six, for just £4.17 a head – £25.02 in total.

It comes with a turkey crown and seven sides, including maple pigs in blankets, parsnips and Yorkshire puddings.

The same eight items are over £2 cheaper than last year too, when they cost £27.29.

This is the full list of items for sale in-store and online from today:

How to save money on your supermarket shop at Christmas

The cost of living remains stubbornly high for millions of households across the UK.

Inflation in September stayed flat from the month before at 6.7%, according to the latest data from the ONS.

It means the cost of everyday essentials, including food, is rising faster than the Bank of England wants it to.

The central bank has a target of 2%.

If you're already looking ahead to Christmas, there's a few ways you can save money this festive period.

A number of supermarkets run savings schemes where you are encouraged to put money aside for their Christmas shop during the year, but you can still sign up now.

Morrisons, Asda, Iceland and Sainsbury's all have them.

Meanwhile, if you've stashed away a number of loyalty points, Christmas might be the best time to use them up.

Choosing the right day to shop for your festive bits could save you some money too.

Black Friday, on November 27, could be worth waiting around for, or early Boxing Day sales.
