Are newspapers delivered over the August Bank Holiday?

If you receive a newspaper through your letter box, you should expect your delivery as normal.

However, it may still be best to check with your local shop that delivers your paper if the Bank Holiday will disrupt your delivery.

You can still buy them from your local shop on the Bank Holiday, but it may be best to check their opening times beforehand to avoid arriving at a closed shop.

Unlike the Easter Bank Holiday where regulations force stores over 280 square metres to close, the August Bank Holiday has no such restrictions, however, they may operate on reduced hours.

This means you will be able to go into any shop, whether large or small, to purchase your Monday newspaper.

These are the 2023 bank holiday dates we still have to look forward to:

  • August 28 – Summer bank holiday, England and Wales only
  • November 30 – St Andrew’s Day, Scotland only
  • Monday, December 25 – Christmas Day
