ISSEY MIYAKE first previewed its new “RHYTHM CHECK” silhouettes on the runway for its Fall/Winter 2023 collection, “The Square and Beyond.” The Japanese label has now released the full lineup of the series, complete with new color variations.
Inspired by how the checkered pattern moves and changes its form when it’s in “rhythm,” the series also plays on the three-dimensional nature and softness of fabrics to create this distinctive shrunken look. The garments all implement shrinking yarn, which are woven into the fabric in a grid-like pattern prior to undergoing high-temperature processing.
As a result, all the pieces from the series are characterized by unique wavy silhouettes, expressed through long-sleeve tops, dresses, jackets, shorts, and pants. A total of three colorways are offered, which include an autumnal deep red and black BLACK-HUED (no.17), a turquoise and gray-centric GREEN-HUED (no.66), and the TERRACOTTA-HUED (no.38) featuring a burnt orange and custard yellow palette.
Pieces go from $895 to $2,055 USD, the new “RHYTHM CHECK” series is now available to shop online and in stores at ISSEY MIYAKE.
In other fashion news, JW Anderson and Uniqlo’s Fall/Winter 2023 collection is a university dream.
