Will Smith is set to host a brand new podcast entitled Class of ‘88.
Premiering in late October, Class of ‘88 pays homage to hip-hop of 1988 with guests like Queen Latifah, Salt-N-Pepa, Darryl “DMC” McDaniels, DJ Jazzy Jeff, Rakim and Chuck D. Smith will dive into rise of the likes of Public Enemy, his duo with DJ Jazzy Jeff and female MCs like Salt-N-Pepa and Queen Latifah.
“Hip-hop has been a central part of my life for over four decades,” Smith told Billboard. “I’m hyped to share my first-hand experiences and those of some of hip-hop’s greatest legends as we delve into the origins of one of the most influential genres of music in history.”
1988 also marked the year that Smith and Jazzy Jeff released their debut studio album He’s the DJ, I’m the Rapper, which birthed the GRAMMY-winning single “Parents Just Don’t Understand.”
Will Smith’s Class of ‘88 premieres October 26 on Amazon Music and Audible, with Prime members able to listen ad-free on Amazon Music.
Elsewhere in music, Doja Cat and Jean Dawson x SZA lead the week’s Best New Tracks.
