Toyota Japan has revealed the 2024 GR86 “AE86 40th Anniversary Edition,” a celebratory offering limited to just 200 examples that will be dedicated to the Japanese market.
The vehicle, set to be available in both manual and automatic transmissions, features a variety of exterior and interior design updates, with some of the most notable being the RZ trim and themed decals. These decals read “Since 1983 40th” and feature a stripe reminiscent of the AE86 that was popularized in the manga series Initial D.
Toyota plans to release the vehicle in two different color options, white with black accents or red with black accents. Other design details include special edition 18-inch wheels finished in a dark grey metallic, as well as black finishing to the mirror caps and rear spoiler.
Aside from cosmetic updates, the Anniversary Edition GR86 features a few technical upgrades as well, including Brembo disc brakes and Sachs absorbers. Pricing for the vehicle with a manual gearbox starts at ¥3,822,000 Yen or roughly $25,652 USD — with the automatic counterpart starting at ¥3,920,000 Yen or $26,310 USD.
With demand expected to be high, Toyota shared that a lottery will be held to determine the allocation of the available stock.
