McLaren has unveiled its latest creation, the GTS — a replacement for its GT, designed to provide a blend of performance and daily driveability, all underpinned by its carbon fiber technology.
At the heart of the GTS lies a 4.0L twin-turbocharged V8 engine, now enhanced to produce an impressive 626hp, roughly 14hp more than its predecessor. This power, combined with a feather-light weight of just 3,351 lbs, provides the GTS a class-leading power-to-weight ratio of 412hp-per-ton. These figures translate into impressive performance capabilities, making the GTS capable of 0 to 60mph in just 3.1 seconds and 0 to 124mph in 8.9 seconds.
The GTS’s design is a testament to McLaren’s commitment to functional beauty. The vehicle retains the lines of the GT, with new enhancements for a more assertive appearance. The front features an updated “hammerhead” style and a new lower bumper with more pronounced air intakes, improving airflow and cooling. At the rear, taller air scoops add to the car’s muscular aesthetics while aiding engine performance.
McLaren has also focused on reducing the GTS’s weight and center of gravity, achieved through a roof panel made from recycled carbon fiber and a carbon fiber rear upper structure. These innovations not only contribute to the car’s performance but also work to provide a more agile driving experience.
McLaren boasts that the GTS provides an exhilarating and comfortable driving experience suitable for both track days and everyday commutes — largely thanks to its adaptive suspension system, standard carbon ceramic brakes and precise steering. The interior is equally impressive, offering a range of new upholstery options, including Softgrain Aniline Leather seats with double-piping and contrast stitching. Additional updates include exterior design with new components finished in gloss black and personalization options like the new “Lava Grey” paint.
“The new McLaren GTS offers an unmatched blend of McLaren driving dynamics and performance, with refinement and practicality. When you want a true supercar driving experience, the GTS delivers that; when you want to relax on a longer journey of with luggage for a weekend away, the GTS is an ideal companion. This is a car that is true to McLaren’s racing DNA but with multiple layers of ability,” shared Michael Leiters, CEO of McLaren Automotive.
At the time of writing, orders for the new McLaren GTS are open, available via inquiry on its official site, with deliveries expected sometime in 2024.
