It’s no secret that John F. Kennedy Jr. was quite close to his mother Jackie Kennedy, and when it came to his relationships, she was reportedly involved with a lot of it. For instance, she went to great lengths to vet his relationship with Madonna, and it turns out, her opinion would also decide the fate of his relationships.
In the book The Kennedy Heirs, author J. Randy Taraborrelli claimed that John Jr would consider the future of his relationships by his mother’s opinion, and his longtime ex-girlfriend Daryl Hannah was no exception. Because Jackie never gave him her blessing to continue his relaitonship with Hannah, he continued to be serious with her.
“John had measured most of the women in his life by Jackie’s opinion of them,” Taraborrelli claimed. “If his mother approved, John would decide he wasn’t sure. However, if his mother disapproved, as she did with actress Daryl Hannah, John became even more attached.”
And according to Christopher Andersen’s book The Good Son: JFK Jr. and the Mother He Loved, he claimed Jackie would more or less ignore Hannah. When Hannah came over to Jackie’s apartment, she would “eat on a tray in another room.”

For those that don’t know, the Splash star and John Jr met back in the early 1980s, but they didn’t start dating until 1992. They broke up for the first time in 1994, got back together for a bit, but called it quits for good only months after Jackie’s death.
He later went on to marry Carolyn Bassette, and they were married until their sudden deaths in 1999 after a plane crash.
