Graduating Pupils Grew Larger Than Life In GCDS' SS24 Collection

Giuliano and Giordano Calza’s GCDS closed out the second day of Milan Fashion Week with an intimate showcase inside the brand’s central headquarters. The Italian fashion House knows how to put on a show, and Spring/Summer 2024 was no different. Single-rowed seats lined the petite room with white-carpeted flooring packed with international A-listers, including Mia Khalifa and Alessandra Ambrosio.

Lights dimmed in commencement, reactivated by funky ’90s tunes that allowed models to move easily. The collection was a time machine to decades past, oozing with skin-soaked Italian motifs turned into a thrilling slumber party. Skintight cardigans with US flag-style strips received exaggerated shoulder padding paired with GCDS-monogrammed briefs, hoping into menswear with vests and matching skirts that donned a prehistoric feel.

Inspired by Calza’s Italian homeland, GCDS’ graduating class arrived in branded varsity uniforms taken from college grounds, followed by formal white suits with chocking neckties destined for prom. Uneven patterns clashed on cropped polos and dual-banded denim, while minuscule T-shirts arrived with loving “TI AMO GCDS” lettering.

The collection quickly took a turn, seeing GCDS pupils host their own fashion-friendly sleepover. Buffed men walked the runway in sheer tank tops and pearled sweatshorts, closing the show with a trio of shimmering looks. The garments were larger than life, seeing tousled asymmetrical tops worn with ultra-slouchy silk trousers and a strapless dress in grandiose proportions.
