In a shock announcement, Britney Spears and Sam Asghari are parting ways but allegedly the dancer isn’t happy with his prenup payout.
Britney, 41, has not addressed the news that her husband of 14 months, Sam, 29, has filed for divorce over cheating rumours.
TMZ broke the news that Sam confronted the superstar over these rumours, leading to arguments and the dancer going to stay in his own home.
Avoiding commenting on the split, the Circus singer posted on Instagram to reveal she is considering buying a horse but was having trouble deciding between two.
It’s now been reported that Sam isn’t happy with the prenup he originally signed, which is common practice in high-profile marriages.
According to Page Six, he is threatening to share ‘extremely embarrassing’ information about Britney with the public unless the agreement is changed.
A prenup is a prenuptial agreement which agrees upon the split of assets before the wedding should the couple part ways.
Sam and Britney are said to have had an ‘ironclad’ one in place before tying the knot 14 months ago.
‘[Asghari is] attempting to negotiate concessions beyond his prenup and threatening to go public with extraordinarily embarrassing information about Britney unless he gets paid,’ an insider told Page Six.
‘So that’s what Sam is focused on.’
The prenup is thought to be in favour of Britney, protecting her assets from before their point of marriage as the star has a reported net worth of $60 million.
It’s unclear what the agreement is on anything earned by Britney after they were wed and how much Sam is allegedly renegotiating for.
A source said to be close to Britney refuted the claims of renegotiation to The Daily Mail, calling it ‘absurd’.
They said: ‘[These claims] are absurd and there is no way her attorney, a former federal prosecutor, would ever let anyone ever extort Britney Spears.’
Britney and Sam married in 2022, after first meeting on the set of the singer’s music video for Slumber Party back in 2016.
They hit it off and Sam remained by the Toxic chart-topper’s side throughout her conservatorship battle.
All seemed well between the pair, with Britney posting regularly on Instagram, including about believing she was pregnant after waking up nauseous.
The couple did announce they were expecting but sadly the ‘miracle baby’ was lost early in the pregnancy.
Before the split was revealed, she had posted a raunchy video of herself enthusiastically pole dancing with Nine Inch Nails playing in the background.
Britney has been married twice before to Jason Alexander and then to Kevin Federline, who has custody of their two sons in Hawaii.
Metro has reached out to representatives of Britney Spears and Sam Asghari for comment.
