Founder of Awake NY Angelo Baque calls the streetwear label’s Happy Socks collaboration “the perfect opportunity to create an unexpected moment of worlds colliding.” Albeit unexpected indeed, the partnership’s capsule offering is certainly clean and eye-catching; across three colorways of cotton, knit socks, the unlikely duo follows up Awake’s Rocky’s Matcha collab to pay homage to New York City’s fencing history.
Awake NY and Happy Socks meld their vibrant visions to deliver a community-centric capsule; featuring a striking leopard print, the design draws directly from the admirable resilience and unwavering swagger of New Yorkers. ”New York is a cultural hub for many pillars, with sports being one of them,” explains Baque. “The campaign shines light on an unexpected and understated community of fencers, who highlight New York as a hub for fencing. The fencers note the sport’s importance of thinking on your feet, agility, and mental toughness, all of which are qualities of a true New Yorker.”

“We are excited to team up with Awake and marry our exciting world of color and print with their tight-knit sense of community,” Happy Socks’ Creative Director Paula Maso comments. “We’ve created a vibrant leopard print, in three colorways meticulously knitted with 200 needles and made in organic cotton, making it the Rolls Royce of socks.”
Each pair of Happy Socks x Awake NY Leopard Crew Socks retails for $28 USD. Socks are available to purchase now at selected Happy Socks retail locations – Happy Socks Soho, Berlin, and Le Marais – and at all Awake NY retail locations as well as the label’s online store. A portion of proceeds from the collection will be donated to Ali Forney Center, a New York-based charity committed to aiding homeless LGBTQ+ youth.
