Country music trio Lady A recently released a melancholy new track, “A Love Song.”
Dann Huff produced “A Love Song,” which was co-written by Dave Haywood, Hillary Scott, Sam Ellis and Allison Veltz Cruz.
“A Love Song” is about a couple who are at a crossroads of their relationship, looking for a simple and loving union. It sees Scott and Charles Kelley trading vocals over Haywood’s piano-driven melody.
We’re pretty good at goodbyes / Almost theres and second tries / A carousel of round and rounds / Of promises and let you downs / We’ve fallen in, we’ve fallen out / Let the wine let us talk about / Holidays and baby names / We play forever like it’s a game,” Scott sings in the opening verses.
“Why can’t we be a love song / That lasts ’til the end of time / The kind that walks you down the aisle, never gets old / Always makes you smile, greatest story told / Gets the world singing along / Why can’t we be a love song,” the multi-platinum trio of Scott, Kelly and Haywood sing in chorus.
“Sad songs always seem to be the ones that move me deeply,” Scott said. “When we sat down to write this song, we really decided to brave the deep of telling a story of a couple at the place in their relationship where they are realizing this might not be a forever love. It’s a heartbreaking story, but one I think many will relate to.”
