Former glamour model and much-loved TV star Katie Price has never been one to shy away when it comes to being open about her ongoing mental health battles.
And this week, the 45 year old mother-of-five revealed she's currently undergoing therapy every two weeks to help her handle her inner demons during her darkest days.
Speaking exclusively to OK! at the press launch of her upcoming pantomime stint Sleeping Beauty, Katie reflected on her previous "breakdown", but says she's trying her best to get to a better place.
"I had a bad four years when I had my breakdown, but I came through the other side," she recalled her former mental health issues. "Now, I’m going to try and bring back my empire. Watch this space to see what that means.
"It’s slowly happening, but people always try to knock me down. It will all happen for me though, I keep trying to get back up."
Two-time I'm A Celebrity star Katie previously fronted the popular Channel 4 documentary Katie Price: Trauma and Me, during which she opened up about her PTSD diagnosis, revealing that one incident in 2018 caused her life to spiral out of control.
On the programme, Katie reflected on being caught up in a terrifying car-jacking during a trip to South Africa in 2018 as she filmed for a reality TV show, which later led her suffering what she described herself as depression.
"After years of neglect, I suffered a mental breakdown in 2018," she said in the documentary. "I was diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder," Katie says during a voiceover on the show. I hit severe depression a couple of years ago, depression on top of PTSD."
She has now told OK! that though she's always making moves to help herself, the constant pressure of being in the spotlight can sometimes make her recovery difficult.
"I have therapy every 2 weeks to help me with that stuff," she explained. "I’m only human at the end of the day. I can take the p**s out of myself, but sometimes other people push it too far."
Katie is soon set to appear in the role of evil villain Carabosse in the pantomime show Sleeping Beauty at Liverpool's M&S Arena over the festive period.
And the star says the performing gig has her feeling over the moon at the moment, revealing a former panto stint had previously left her feeling nervous of doing it again.
"I've done panto before and I so enjoyed it," Katie spoke about what's to come. "So, now I know the ropes, I'm really looking forward to this one. I feel that that was the rehearsals so now I know what to do. I want to have fun with it. I was so nervous last time!"
Sleeping Beauty is arriving at The Auditorium, M&S Bank Arena in December 2023.
