Sex and the City actress Cynthia Nixon’s hunger strike to try and end the Israel-Palestine conflict will only last two or three days, according to a source.
Nixon, 57, called for President Biden to demand a permanent ceasefire in Gaza while outside the White House on Monday with a group of Palestinian supporters holding up signs.
Nixon, who is the mother of two Jewish children with her ex-husband, will only complete two to three days of the planned five-day strike before she returns to work in New York.
Instead, she hopes that her words hold more weight in the public eye, a source said.

Nixon rallied in Washington DC today, saying: ‘None of this is normal. None of this is routine and none of this can be allowed to continue.’
One source told DailyMail.com: ‘She is looking to do it for two or three days.’
They continued: ‘Cynthia is hoping her word holds more weight than anything. She is not going to be doing her hunger strike that long because she has to go back to work and will be doing that in the coming days.
‘But to her, doing the strike at all is a small price to pay for what she is fighting for, she is doing it for her family and friends and those in harm’s way, and everyone is supporting her that she is close to, no one is worried about her well being because they know she will be all right and is doing this for the greater good of what she believes in. People close to her are very proud of her.’
Nixon’s makeup artist Matin Maulawizada also told DailyMail.com: ‘Cynthia has always sided with fairness and humanity and it has been a privilege to see her balance Hollywood and politics with grace and integrity.
Nixon, who is the mother of two Jewish children with her ex-husband, is demanding that President Joe Biden call for a permanent ceasefire in Gaza. The actress and political activist said she will take part in the hunger strike for two of the five planned days
During the rally, she held up a sign that read: ‘Over 6,150 children killed in Gaza. How many more before ceasefire?’
‘Humanity and human life should be upheld to the highest degree especially during conflicts and a country like the US should not be supplying weapons that indiscriminately kill civilians and children anywhere.
‘War should always be the very last resort and only between soldiers. Collective punishment is against humanitarian law and must not be exercised ever!
‘Diplomacy is the only solution for political conflicts. War has never brought peace to anyone.’
Nixon’s representatives have been contacted for comment.
Since Hamas’ brutal surprise attack on Israel on October 7, at least 14,800 Palestinians — mostly women and children — in Gaza have been killed, according to the Ministry of Health in Hamas-run Gaza.
Currently, there is a temporary ceasefire in place while Israel and Hamas exchange prisoners.
‘We are here hunger-striking just to sort of mirror to Biden the kind of deprivation that is happening in Gaza and how he has it within his power to make a ceasefire happen,’ Nixon told a group of reporters, according to The Times of Israel.
Nixon, the former New York gubernatorial candidate, signed an open letter that was signed by 260 other artists and addressed to the president and Congress demanding a ceasefire in the region, the publication reported.
On Friday, there was a humanitarian pause, and the start of a four-day truce, that began with the release of 10 Israelis, 10 Thai citizen and one Philippine citizen, according to officials.

In addition to 39 Palestinian women and children were freed from three Israeli prisons, CNN reported.
As of Tuesday afternoon, there have been a total of 58 hostages – 40 Israelis including dual-nationals, 17 Thai citizens and one Philippine citizen – freed, the news outlet reported.
On October 7, Hamas launched a surprise attack on Israel killing 1,200 and taking more than 250 people hostage.
Nixon shot to stardom with her role as the feisty Miranda Hobbes in the cult classic series Sex and the City and then reprised her role in ‘And Just Like That…’
But, she is also known for backing far-left causes and ideals.
In 2021, the actress was slammed for suggesting a CVS store near her home let people shoplift rather than putting household goods behind locks.
‘As so many families can’t make ends meet right now, I can’t imagine thinking that the way to solve the problem of people stealing basic necessities out of desperation is to prosecute them,’ Nixon tweeted at the time.
Nixon was responding to a tweet that pointed out that several Manhattan DA and Mayoral candidates say they would not prosecute shoplifting because it ‘criminalizes poverty.’
In 2017, Nixon was mentioned as a candidate for governor in New York and later ran in the Democratic primary, but lost to Andrew Cuomo before he left office in disgrace.
