Amy Dowden gives a shout-out to Neil Jones
Amy Dowden has thanked Neil Jones for supporting her during her latest health setback. Over the weekend, the professional dancer took to social media to publicly praise her Strictly Come Dancing co-star.
On Sunday, (3 December), the 33-year-old uploaded a series of chatty videos to Instagram. During the candid conversation – shared to her 634,000 followers – she addressed her recent health struggles and also thanked fans for sending their well-wishes.
Amy began by saying: “Just want to say thank you so much for the lovely messages I’ve had the last few days. I’ve had a few like ‘Amy, don’t push yourself’.
“But honestly being at Strictly yesterday after the week I’ve had was just what I needed, mentally more than anything. Obviously a rubbish start to the week, being rushed to hospital.”
Amy went on to say that the BBC ballroom competition was just the “tonic” she needed and that she enjoyed being “pampered” by the show’s hair and make-up team. She also added that she was “grateful” to be part of it and that watching the show from home was “mentally tough”.

Elsewhere in the chat, Amy revealed that she was struggling to inject herself with blood-thinning drugs. After claiming that they “sting”, she gave a shout-out to fellow Strictly professional, Neil, 41.
“So big shout out to Mr Neil Jones who helped me last night,” she said. “It’s like a proper bee-sting. I’ve had so many people message me and say: ‘Yeah they’re nasty, aren’t they?’”
Amy’s sweet sentiments come just months after the father-of-one pledged his support to her. In an interview with the Daily Star, the dancer said: “I know for anybody there’s going to be people calling and all of that so with Amy especially, I just send her a little message every now and again and just say, ‘If you need anything – just let us know, we’re always here for you’.”
The Welsh native was previously on blood-thinning tablets for blood clots. However, due to another blood clot developing in her lung, she needed to go onto something “stronger”.
The 33-year-old also revealed that she has past experience with injections. However, she added that these particular ones were stinging and that they were leaving her stomach “a bit tender”.

Last week, Amy announced to fans that she was “gutted” that another blood clot had been found in her body. Speaking on Instagram again, the BBC ballroom star said: “It seems to be never-ending.
“It came to our knowledge on Tuesday that I’ve got another blood clot on my lung and they were really worried that the clot was travelling to my heart or affecting my heart. Lluckily enough it’s not.
“Obviously this was a shock and it just means now… I’m really gutted… I was on blood thinners anyway for the blood clots in my arm… I’ve still got a blood clot on my lung and obviously, it’s quite close to my heart – there’s a risk.” She also stated that she would be having the blood-thinning injections for the “foreseeable” future.
In May, the dancer from Caerphilly was diagnosed with grade three breast cancer. After undergoing a mastectomy in July, she finished her last round of chemotherapy treatment in early November.
