Blue Bloods has officially been cancelled, with network CBS\u00a0announcing that the final ever installment will be released to fans next year, with the first part dropping in February and a second arriving in the autumn.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The multi-generational drama has been running steadily since 2010 and rose to peaks of fame following the patriarch Frank Reagan (played by Tom Selleck) whose iconic mustache has become engrained in pop culture.\u00a0<\/p>\n

In a statement to People, the lead actor gushed over the sensational role he\u2019s kept a firm grip on for the last 275 episodes.\u00a0<\/p>\n

He declared it an \u201chonor and privilege\u201d to have worked on a show that \u201ccelebrates the men and women who protect and serve in New York City\u201d and \u201cdisplayed the importance of family\u201d.<\/p>\n

Branding the cast and crew a \u201cdream come true\u201d, the 78-year-old thanks the network for their \u201csteadfast support\u201d and the countless fans across the world who \u201cgathered with us for dinner every Friday night\u201d.<\/p>\n

In a joint statement, Amy Reisenbach, president of CBS Entertainment, and David Stapf, president of CBS Studios, said the drama series would \u201cforever be a beloved part of CBS\u2019 legacy\u201d for its \u201cunprecedented dominance\u201d that hasn\u2019t waned in the last 13 years.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Ahead of the devastating announcement, Blue Bloods still held the number one primetime slot on the network and raked in a sensational\u00a09.54 million viewers over the last year.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The final season is expected to begin on February 16 with the first 10 episodes and end in the autumn with eight episodes celebrating the last days of Frank, Jamie, Danny, Sean and Erin Reagan.\u00a0<\/p>\n
