SAM Aston and wife Briony have revealed they're expecting their third child. <\/p>\n

Coronation Street star Sam, 30, and 28-year-old Briony are already parents to Sonny, three, and 18-month-old Daisy. <\/p>\n

But the couple's happy news was bittersweet as they told how Briony was pregnant with twins before losing one of the babies to "vanishing twin syndrome". <\/p>\n

Speaking to OK! Magazine, she said: "We were excited and thankful, because we always wanted a baby that was healthy. <\/p>\n

"Then we started thinking, \u2018We could have had two\u2026 Will the living twin always wonder, \u201cWhat if?\u201d and will they feel lonely?\u2019 We found ourselves questioning what could have been, while feeling grateful for what we\u2019ve got."<\/p>\n

Sam added: "At first, you\u2019re thinking, \u2018What would it have been like to have twins? Would we have had one of each, a boy and a girl?\u2019 <\/p>\n

"Like Briony says, it\u2019s definitely bittersweet, but we just feel very grateful that the other baby is absolutely fine."<\/p>\n

In July Briony opened up about suffering two heartbreaking miscarriages in four months. <\/p>\n

She wrote on social media: "This is a difficult thing to share, but in the interest of breaking the taboo, I'm miscarrying again, the second time in four months…<\/p>\n

"It's heartbreaking and it's unfair, BUT I'm not seeking sympathy, I feel well supported and want others to feel supported too."<\/p>\n
