Giles Martin, who is the son of original Beatles producer George Martin, spoke to Variety about the refreshed albums and new song release.

‘You know, we live in such a sh**** time right now, in all honesty. And it’s quite nice to think about something else. That’s what music should be there for.

‘It’s not some sort of cynical marketing exercise to try and push catalog sales. I think Paul just misses John and he wants to work on a song with him. It’s just as simple as that,’ Giles told the outlet.

Now And Then was posted on the Fab Four’s YouTube account and it has racked up 12million views in just one day.

43 years after Lennon’s death – and more than two decades on from George Harrison’s passing – The Beatles have came together with the help of AI and audio tech.

Now And Then, written and sung by John in 1977, features acoustic and electric guitar played by George in 1995.

Sir Paul McCartney completed the bass and Sir Ringo Starr recorded the drums in the last year.

Sir Paul said finishing his friend’s lost love song felt like the Fab Four were all back together again, declaring today: ‘To still be working on Beatles music in 2023. Wow. It’s probably the last Beatles song, and we have all played on it so it is a genuine Beatles recording. Every time I thought, say I had a chance to ask John: “Hey John, would you like us to finish this last song of yours?” I’m telling you, I know the answer would have been: “Yeah”.’

Now And Then is a Lennon demo from the 70s that McCartney, Harrison and Starr attempted to ‘finish’ – just like Free As A Bird and Real Love.

However, according to Super Deluxe Edition Free As A Bird and Real Love are not going to feature on the revised Blue Album.

Lovers of The Beatles took to the comments to discuss the new song, with some saying they ‘couldn’t stop the tears.’
