Emmerdale actor Danny Miller has admitted he never would have made his surprise return to the ITV soap earlier this month if it wasn't for his wife Steph.

The 32-year-old quit playing Aaron Dingle in 2021 and in the two years since, he and Steph have got married and welcomed two children; son Albert, two, and daughter Edith, who was born in August.

Danny also enjoyed a stint in the I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! castle when Albert was just weeks old, and emerged from the show as the winner.

He has now credited his "superwoman" wife with making his Dales comeback possible, thanking her for looking after their young kids while he spends long hours on set.

He told OK!: “I owe it all to Steph. I am so lucky. My return to Emmerdale has been made so much easier because she is so incredible."

In order to make things easier, the couple moved to Leeds from their home in Cheshire so Danny doesn't have a long commute back from the ITV set.

He continued: "I am loving being back at Emmerdale but the days can be long sometimes and I can return home feeling very knackered!

"But Steph has often been up for as long as me and she always has such an incredible amount of energy.

"In many ways it’s a far more challenging job to keep both Edith and Albert entertained. But she never complains!”

Since returning a month ago, Danny – who has played Aaron on and off since 2008 but quit in October 2021 returning only briefly for the soap’s 50th birthday celebrations – is having a blast.

“I feel like I’ve never been away now,” he laughed. “The first couple of weeks were like coming back from school holidays and I was nervous. I feel more comfortable now and I can relax more.”

The actor was just 17 years old when he made his debut as Aaron but now finds himself helping the soap's crop of young stars get settled.

“I am always on hand to give advice should they want it,” he said. “I am so appreciative of this job, I’ve got friends who would give their right arm to play a character that is so loved.”

Emmerdale airs weeknights on ITV at 7.30pm.
