SUPERMARKET chain Asda is selling a Christmas dinner for just \u00a34 a head but you might be wondering if it's the cheapest option.<\/p>\n
The cost of presents, parties and food can rack up over the festive period so you should be looking for ways to save money where possible.<\/p>\n

Now, Asda has announced it is selling a frozen Christmas dinner for a family of six, for just \u00a34.17 a head – \u00a325.02 in total.<\/p>\n
It comes with a turkey crown and seven sides, including maple pigs in blankets, parsnips and Yorkshire puddings.<\/p>\n
The same eight items are over \u00a32 cheaper than last year too, when they cost \u00a327.29.<\/p>\n

But is Asda's offering really as cheap as it's been made out to be? Simply put, yes.<\/p>\n We checked other major supermarket chains Tesco and Morrisons to see how the same, or similar, items compared in terms of price – and Asda came out on top.<\/p>\n Sainsbury's, Lidl and Aldi didn't have prices for all the items online.<\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n Tesco's same range of eight items comes out at a cost of \u00a330.41 while Morrisons is \u00a338.96.<\/p>\n Here's how the three retailer's meals compare overall:<\/p>\n Total: \u00a325.02, \u00a34.17 a head<\/p>\n<\/p>\n Total: \u00a330.41, \u00a35.06 a head<\/p>\n Total: \u00a338.96, \u00a36.49 a head<\/p>\n The cost of living remains stubbornly high for millions of households across the UK.<\/p>\n Inflation in September stayed flat from the month before at 6.7%, according to the latest data from the ONS.<\/p>\n It means the cost of everyday essentials, including food, is rising faster than the Bank of England wants it to.<\/p>\n The central bank has a target of 2%.<\/p>\n If you're already looking ahead to Christmas, there's a few ways you can save money this festive period.<\/p>\n A number of supermarkets run savings schemes where you are encouraged to put money\u00a0aside for their\u00a0Christmas\u00a0shop during the year, but you can still sign up now.<\/p>\n Morrisons, Asda, Iceland and Sainsbury's all have them.<\/p>\n Meanwhile, if you've stashed away a number of loyalty points, Christmas might be the best time to use them up.<\/p>\n Choosing the right day to shop for your festive bits could save you some money too.<\/p>\n Black Friday, on November 27, could be worth waiting around for, or early Boxing Day sales.<\/p>\n In other news, an Asda superfan has revealed how her tips can save you \u00a3100s a year.<\/p>\n Plus, a shopper on how you can get \u00a310 off your shop at the retailer this month.<\/p>\n Do you have a money problem that needs sorting?
