A dental nurse has been named the first ever winner of a ‘make-up free’ beauty pageant.<\/p>\n
Natasha Beresford, 26, took to the catwalk with nothing but a smile on her face and was named Miss <\/span>London 2023 in the regional heats of the Miss England contest.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n She beat 18 other\u00a0women competing barefaced in a first in the competition’s 95-year history.<\/p>\n While contestants in previous years have been asked to submit pictures of themselves without filters, cosmetics or editing as part of the competition, this year’s pageant contestants were banned from even a slick of lip gloss.<\/p>\n Organisers said the concept aimed to empower women, boost confidence and promote a more realistic body image as it focuses on natural looks.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Natasha Beresford, 26, took to the catwalk with nothing but a smile on her face and was named Miss London 2023 in the regional heats of the Miss England contest<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Natural beauty: Dental nurse\u00a0Natasha Beresford, 26, was crowned the winner of the UK’s first ever make-up free beauty pageant\u00a0<\/p>\n <\/p>\n L-R: Winner Natasha Beresford, runner-up Temi Adeyemi, runner-up Afrose Ameen, public vote winner Lauren Malone and runner-up Atlanta Richards\u00a0<\/p>\n Natasha impressed judges by donning a a white lace dress by Shikoba bride – which produces ethically and sustainably-produced wedding dresses in the UK.<\/p>\n After taking the Miss London title, she will now compete in the Miss England final, which will take place later this year.<\/p>\n Natasha started work as a dental nurse at the Royal London Dental Hospital in 2021 where she was dubbed ‘a real-life tooth fairy’ providing treatment to children.<\/p>\n Originally from Sheffield, she now lives in London and works at a private dental practice in the capital’s upmarket neighbourhood of Chiswick.<\/p>\n She said: ‘I find my job really rewarding, over the years I have worked in the NHS, as well as private and urgent care dental practices.<\/p>\n ‘For the future, I would like to do further training in dental radiography and oral health education.<\/p>\n ‘I also plan on volunteering with Dentaid for their UK outreach dental clinics, where they provide dental care and oral health advice for people experiencing homelessness, survivors of abuse, families in poverty, refugees, cancer patients and people recovering from addiction.’<\/p>\n Natasha added: ‘I am thrilled to have been selected as Miss London. All the girls that competed are so beautiful and truly inspirational, so it was an honour to be chosen.<\/p>\n Afrose Ameen also competed (left) Lauren Malone, at the Miss England ‘Miss London’ pagaent (right)<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Atlanta Richards, a 17-year-old beauty therapy student from Surrey, won a place in the top five at the landmark competition\u00a0<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Temi Adeyemi,\u00a026, an accounts assistant from Enfield, Middlesex, also won a place in the top five\u00a0<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Afrose Ameen on the catwalk at the contest<\/p>\n ‘I hope to use my title to inspire young women and girls to feel confident and beautiful in their own skin without makeup.’<\/p>\n Nineteen contestants walked the catwalk completely make up free wearing their own choice of boho-themed ethically sourced clothing.<\/p>\n The runners up included Afrose Ameen, 23, from Lewisham, an engineering student who worked on the Elizabeth Line on the London Underground.<\/p>\n Temi Adeyemi, 26, an accounts assistant from Enfield, Middlesex, also won a place in the top five along with 17-year-old beauty therapy student Alanta Richards, from Surrey.<\/p>\n The public vote winner was Lauren Malone 26, a company founder and CEO, who will join the other four women in the Miss England final.<\/p>\n The beauty pageant was held at the Taj 51 Buckingham Gate Suites and Residences in London and was sponsored by the Cetuem London natural skincare brand.<\/p>\n
