if you want your love to last<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>A &#8216;teacher&#8217;s pet&#8217; married her favorite schoolteacher after the pair fell in love, despite a 25-year age gap.<\/p>\n<p>Monica Foster, 32, first met her now-wife, Michelle, 57, in 2004 when she was her science teacher in Big Rapids, Michigan.<\/p>\n<p>Seventeen years later, Monica, a self-confessed &#8216;teacher&#8217;s pet&#8217;, searched on Facebook to see how her former favorite teacher was doing.<\/p>\n<p>Michelle had been in a relationship with a woman in the past, and Monica had just publicly come out as lesbian too.<\/p>\n<p>The pair met up and became close friends before a developing a romantic connection &#8211; despite being mistaken for mother and daughter &#8216;several times every day&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/09\/26\/09\/75840031-12561105-image-m-68_1695715601928.jpg\" height=\"790\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Monica Ketchum (left) and her &#8216;favorite school teacher&#8217; Michelle (right) tied the knot despite a 25-year age gap\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Ignoring daily online abuse from trolls, the couple got engaged in autumn 2022.<\/p>\n<p>They tied the knot earlier this year and have said that they&#8217;re happier than ever after a &#8216;perfect day&#8217; with a private beachfront wedding.<\/p>\n<p>Michelle, a now-retired teacher, said: &#8216;When Monica first reached out, I was always willing to be supportive of former students, so I was very happy reconnect.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;As we grew close, I was worried about the age gap and I was worried about how we first met, but I had to let it all go.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;Our wedding was a beach wedding on a stunning day &#8211; and it was just perfect.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;It&#8217;s amazing how fast the year has flown by since our engagement &#8211; it&#8217;s kind of bewildering.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;It&#8217;s amazing and very surreal &#8211; when Monica, then 13, had been &#8216;the goody goody student&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p>While their relationship remained professional back then, Michelle left such a mark that Monica decided to find her on Facebook 17 years later, in April 2020.<\/p>\n<p>Monica had just gone through a tough situation and recalled Michelle&#8217;s supportive classroom being a &#8216;safe place&#8217; or even &#8220;Is that your grandma?&#8221; all the time.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;We learned to laugh or brush it off, but if you see me kissing her, why would you ask if she&#8217;s my mother?&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;Another question I get asked is whether I loved her when I was 13 &#8211; obviously not.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;At the time, we didn&#8217;t have any relationship besides her being a good teacher.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>The couple got engaged in autumn 2022, after organizing separate proposals for each other so they both had a chance to propose.<\/p>\n<p>Their big day rolled around, and the pair had a tiny beach wedding on June 17 at Suttons Bay, on the shore of Lake Michigan, and they said their vows in a tiny nearby cottage with just a handful of their nearest and dearest.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/09\/26\/09\/75840033-12561105-image-m-67_1695715438819.jpg\" height=\"715\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>After a whirlwind year, the pair are ready to settle down together and spend time at home with each other<\/p>\n<p>Afterwards they had a singalong to &#8216;Good As Hell&#8217; by Lizzo on the waterfront before they &#8216;cracked a beer in the forest&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p>Two nights earlier they had had a separate &#8216;mini wedding&#8217; with Monica&#8217;s children Zeke, seven, and Charlie, five, so they could enjoy the experience too.<\/p>\n<p>Monica said: &#8216;They still talk about it &#8211; Charlie asks to wear her &#8216;wedding dress&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;Zeke was wearing a rainbow bowtie.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>After enjoying a relaxing honeymoon in Traverse City, the newlyweds are back home and ready to relax as wife and wife.<\/p>\n<p>Michelle said: &#8216;This year has flown fast &#8211;
