Liam Payne sent fans around the world into a panic last week when he was rushed to hospital during an anniversary trip with his girlfriend. <\/p>\n

The One Direction star suffered agonising pain during his visit to Lake Como, Italy, with Kate Cassidy, 24, and was admitted to hospital \u2013 where he was expected to remain for several days \u2013 to undergo urgent tests. <\/p>\n

As his loyal following wished him a speedy recovery, his ex Cheryl Tweedy, who is mum to his six-year-old son Bear, has been left \u201cupset\u201d upon learning of his latest health issues. <\/p>\n

A source told OK!<\/b>, \u201cCheryl is a strong person, she\u2019s very kind and she just wants Liam to be happy and healthy. She\u2019s always tried to support him because he\u2019s Bear\u2019s father and she\u2019s always tried to be there for him."<\/p>\n

The continued, \u201cIt\u2019s very hard for Cheryl \u2013 she feels upset about it. She is worried and concerned for Liam because he\u2019s Bear\u2019s dad and she wants him to be the best dad he can be. But she has her mum around her, who\u2019s a great support for them, and recently she\u2019s been getting on with her own life as a single mum. She\u2019s been building her life and focusing on work and Bear.\u201d <\/p>\n

Liam\u2019s mum Karen has also been \u201cworried sick\u201d about her son\u2019s condition. \u201cIt\u2019s so horrible \u2013 him being all the way over there,\u201d she told a newspaper. \u201cIt\u2019s such a horrible situation and we just hope he\u2019s in the best place possible.\u201d <\/p>\n

The A&E dash came just weeks after 30-year-old Liam cancelled his South American tour, telling fans he had a \u201cserious kidney infection\u201d and was under strict orders to rest and recover.<\/p>\n

The Strip That Down hitmaker posted a video to his Instagram page, with the caption, \u201cI ended up in hospital with a bad kidney infection. <\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve got the best people around me at home trying to help me recover\u2026 but we\u2019re going to have to reschedule the tour.\u201d <\/p>\n

Adding to everyone\u2019s concern, he also said the pain was \u201csomething I wouldn\u2019t wish on anyone\u201d. <\/p>\n

Last week a source told a newspaper that Liam was \u201cgutted\u201d that his Italy trip with American influencer Kate had been ruined, but doctors couldn\u2019t let him leave without finding the cause of his pain. <\/p>\n

\u201cThey want to do every test possible to understand the issue fully but they now suspect that there has been an underlying issue for a while that has been getting worse,\u201d they said. <\/p>\n

In July, Liam revealed he was nearly six months sober after spending 100 days in a strict rehab facility in the US. <\/p>\n

Speaking candidly on his YouTube channel, he told fans, \u201cI just needed to take a little bit of time out for myself actually, because I kind of became somebody who I didn\u2019t really recognise any more. <\/p>\n

\u201cAnd I\u2019m sure you guys didn\u2019t either. I was in bad shape up until that point and I was really happy to kind of put a stopper to life and work.\u201d <\/p>\n

He went on to thank his Girls Aloud ex Cheryl, 40, for supporting him while he took time out and \u201cdidn\u2019t connect with the outside world at all\u201d for the whole 100-day stay. <\/p>\n

\u201cThere is no point trying to be a dad when you have nothing to teach,\u201d he admitted. <\/p>\n

Cheryl and Liam began dating in 2016 but split up in summer 2018, a year after the birth of Bear. Addressing the \u201ctough decision\u201d to go their separate ways, Cheryl said at the time the couple still had \u201cso much love for each other as a family\u201d. <\/p>\n

According to our source, Cheryl\u2019s main priority has always been and will always be the son she shares with Liam. <\/p>\n

\u201cShe\u2019s a very strong woman and she doesn\u2019t want Bear to be affected by any of this,\u201d they claimed. \u201cHe is her number one priority and she\u2019s a wonderful mother.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
