They\u2019re calling it Real Dressing. We\u2019re calling it a Real Delight.<\/p>\n<p>We\u2019re building on foundations we already own and the clothes coming into the shops for this autumn have never looked easier, more suited to our lives or just plain desirable \u2014 because we know we\u2019ll wear them and wear them. Here are the top High Street buys for autumn\/winter.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/09\/17\/19\/75533159-12528793-image-a-4_1694975648558.jpg\" height=\"402\" width=\"306\"><\/p>\n<p>Patent leather bag, \u00a399.99, shop. mango. com<\/p>\n<p><span>Bright shiny bag<\/span><\/p>\n<p>These days there are no bag rules \u2014 only bags that work and\/or make your outfit come alive.<\/p>\n<p>Ideally, you want both and the new look is to wear a couple of bags together.<\/p>\n<p>When actress Eva Mendes was pictured on her way to a party with a tote and a snappy green Gucci shoulder bag, it was all the encouragement we needed to add a bright shiny bag to our autumn wish list.<\/p>\n<p>You will find the perfect patent leather little red bag at Mango.<\/p>\n<p><span>A hint of underwear<\/span><\/p>\n<p>On the subject of Miuccia Prada\u2019s contentious knickers, we are far too old to go near this.<\/p>\n<p>That said, a little bit of on-show underwear \u2014 above the waist in the case of us grown-ups and always just a suggestion, not a full bra cup please \u2014 is a modern touch for evening.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m talking about a slither of lace on a V neck layering top to show in the neckline of your blazer or under a sweater. If you\u2019re under 30, your jeans will now be as baggy as your mum\u2019s were in 1974 \u2014 the floppier, flappier and more pavement-dragging the better.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The unexpected news is that we can join in this denim flares bonanza providing we rein it in and look for polished A-line jeans.<\/p>\n<p>The waistline should be tummy-button-covering, the fit should be snug on the hips and the flare should start where your knicker line ends and descend crisply to the bridge of your foot (too long and you can start to look a bit music festival leftover).<\/p>\n<p>Note: this flared jeans moment is meant to be chic and sharp not retro or sloppy.<\/p>\n<p>Try &amp; Other Stories. It has been all about a blazer and trousers, separate or together, but now the slightly slouchy trouser suit is back centre stage.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Trousers are cut on the waist or hips, legs are loose, jackets wide-shoulder, and double-breasted adds smart points.<\/p>\n<p>Wear with a striped shirt, ankle boots (see boots), and, after dark, switch the shirt for a blouse or lace-trimmed top and add high-vis earrings.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Try Karen Millen or John Lewis (blazer, \u00a3125, and trousers, \u00a385, johnlewis.com, from October).<\/p>\n<p>This winter also sees the return of the black evening tuxedo.
