However, fans may be surprised to see Mark Harmon looking a world away from his NCIS days as Gibbs in this throwback photo.<\/p>\n
Harmon, 72, looks youthful in his role as Peter Cabot in the 1981 science fiction TV movie Goliath Awaits.<\/p>\n
The American star, who was in his late 20s to early 30s during Goliath Awaits, is sporting dark brown hair and a moustache, looking completely different.<\/p>\n
The movie was originally broadcast in two parts and follows Harmon’s scientist and his fellow researchers making a shocking discovery in the 1980s.<\/p>\n
The scientists stumble across the Goliath, a sunken British ocean liner torpedoed by a German U-boat during the 1930s around the outbreak of World War II.<\/p>\n

More info<\/p>\n Along with appearing in NCIS, Harmon has starred in Aaron Sorkin’s acclaimed political drama The West Wing which earned him an Emmy nomination, teen movie Freaky Friday, JAG and Chicago Hope as Dr Jack McNeil.<\/p>\n Some of his other roles include Charlie Grace, Reasonable Doubts, Long Road Home, Moonlighting and 240-Robert.<\/p>\n From 2003 to 2023 Harmon was a regular in NCIS and also became an executive producer on the series.<\/p>\n He also served as an executive on the spin-off series NCIS: New Orleans.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Harmon recently made an exit as Gibbs from NCIS but is still very much part of the universe and is said to be working on a book.<\/p>\n Prior to acting, Harmon had a successful college football career but considered going into law or advertising.<\/p>\n He later decided to follow in his actress mother Elyse Knox’s footsteps.<\/p>\n After landing a TV commercial, marking one of his first roles, before bit parts which led to more prominent credits.<\/p>\n
