And so, the wedding of the year (so far – let’s not forget Christmas) is upon us. Unlike many others who remain unconvinced, I predicted a Kat/Phil liaison way before it happened. Of course, nothing is ever that easy.

When Jean arranges a surprise hen do for Kat, you know trouble is imminent. When did any ‘surprise’ party ever go well in Walford?

It’s like those famous fairm-ly Christmas dinners, where the guests are more at risk of getting carved than the turkey. If a surprise party doesn’t turn into a near-massacre, you discover your sister is your muvver.

With Keanu knowing all about Phil’s dalliance with Emma, will he keep quiet? And after Keanu ‘accidentally’ reveals Phil’s secret to Alfie, will Alfie reveal all?

When Alfie takes a swing at Phil at Peggy’s (I sense another massacre coming on), it’s clear something else is bothering him, and he admits he does in fact have prostate cancer.

How does EastEnders’ Alfie feel about Kat marrying Phil? ‘He never thought this would happen,’ says Shane Richie (Alfie).

‘He’s broken. I think fans are going, ‘No, this can’t possibly be!’

Talk about putting a dampener on the big day. He could have waited until the cake was cut. If it gets that far.

Stacey is in a state of fear, knowing Theo’s lurking around every corner. She’s terrified when she bumps into him in the Square gardens, and again when he turns up at the Vic during the hen do.

My theory is Stacey will turn to Jack for support. He won’t really have forgiven Denise for the Ravi episode, and the pair now have a grandchild in common.

That’ll throw them into each other’s paths a lot more. And she’s had one of the brothers, so she might as well go for the double.

What a joy it is having Michelle Collins return as Cindy. Despite Kaffy’s pleas to Ian to persuade Cindy to let Bobby back into 45, all hell breaks loose when he tries. You can’t blame her.

My bigger concern is what she’s left behind in France, though. Who’s packed up her stuff? Is there Brie turning mouldy in the fridge? More to the point, how much Champagne is left?

Where there’s a building site, there’s a body. That’s a given in Soapland, and Stephen is none too pleased to hear that one has turned up. Loved up with Jenny after the Paris trip, this is une catastrophe for the serial killer.

Craig (of course it’s Craig – the only active copper in Weatherfield) tells Jenny it’s Leo’s corpse. Is the game up for Stephen? It has to be eventually.

I expect Dee-Dee will represent him – she represents everyone else. She’s even been sorting Ronnie and Ed’s paperwork, but has to break the news that the investor has pulled out of the building project. What’s a few murders added to her already packed agenda?

Ryan takes time off from his packing job at the factory to take some nude pics in the loo. Not sure that backdrop is going to do him any favours. But a subscriber says only a live video will do.

This has to be the show’s most blatant effort ever to have a hot guy gratuitously get his kit off. Not complaining. Just sayin’.

The role of Corrie’s Mason could not have come at a better time for newcomer Luca Toolan. ‘It was such a difficult day because my dog had died and I’d been at the vet crying,’ Luca says.

‘I went for a pub lunch to try to cheer up and my agent called and said, “I’ve got some good news…” I was elated.’

To Luca, the show already ‘feels like a family’. And the icing on the cake? ‘The food is also amazing.’

For once, we can use the phrase ‘nut job’ in terms that do not refer to one of the characters, all of whom appear to possess varying degrees of insanity.

In the current context, at a tasting event, Victoria mistakenly tells Jacob that a burger is nut-free, which leads to an allergic reaction.

Frantically searching for an auto adrenaline pen, Victoria panics while Leyla struggles with a weakening Jacob. I’m not sure the presence of Leyla will help; she may be Jacob’s mother, but every time she comes within three feet of him, he appears to suffer a negative reaction.

David rushes to the hospital and Leyla is so furious about Victoria’s mistake that she seeks revenge. She gets her wish when Gabby loses potential buyers for HOP and fires Victoria.

Come on, guys; it was a mistake. Will Victoria take comfort in David’s arms once more? With Matthew Wolfenden (David) leaving, it could be a convenient exit. Even though he’d be nuts to go there again.

There’s good news for Bob when Wendy agrees to move back into the B&B. Presumably that means that Liam and his roaming stethoscope are well and truly back on the market. Where do I join the queue?
