THOUSANDS of households are set to get \u00a3175 in cost of living cash in just weeks. <\/p>\n
The money, which is being dished out to spend on groceries, is part of the national Household Support Fund (HSF).<\/p>\n

The government has pumped a further \u00a3842million into the pot of cash which councils are giving out to local residents.<\/p>\n
The HSF is designed to help those on the lowest incomes with the rising cost of living.<\/p>\n
Each council gets a different portion of funding depending on the size of the catchment area, population, and need.<\/p>\n
The\u00a0vouchers or cash grants on offer vary by location\u00a0so you'll have to check to see what you can get and how your council will pay you.<\/p>\n

You'll usually need to be on a low income to receive the help.<\/p>\n
Thousands of residents in Ealing will be given \u00a3175 in supermarket vouchers to spend in October.<\/p>\n
Those eligible include families on housing benefit\u00a0or council tax support but not on DWP benefits.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, households in non residential care where council contributes to care costs will get \u00a3100 in the coupons.<\/p>\n
<\/picture>\n <\/span><\/p>\n <\/picture>\n <\/span><\/p>\n <\/picture>\n <\/span><\/p>\n <\/picture>\n <\/span><\/p>\n That's not all, families eligible for benefits related free school meals, based on low income, will get \u00a315 worth in vouchers per child too.<\/p>\n Families with children under the age of five, who get housing benefit and\/ or council tax reduction will get \u00a315 per household.<\/p>\n And, Ealing care leavers will get supermarket vouchers worth \u00a350 per person.<\/p>\n These vouchers will be issued through the Post Office and all eligible recipients will get a letter explaining how to claim their money.<\/p>\n If you are eligible, you do not need to apply for the vouchers, just wait to receive the letter with a special code.<\/p>\n There's more help available too set to be dished out in February next year.<\/p>\n Below we outline the support for those who don't live in Ealing.<\/p>\n Yes, but the help available to you will depend on where you live.<\/p>\n Each council is distributing their share of the HSF differently.<\/p>\n Some are handing out vouchers, while others are making bank transfers to eligible residents.<\/p>\n The amount you are entitled to will vary depending on the area you live in too.<\/p>\n If you\u2019re not sure which council is in charge of your area, you can tap your postcode into the government\u2019s\u00a0local council checker tool to find out.<\/p>\n The most common types of support provided each year are\u00a0supermarket vouchers,\u00a0fuel vouchers\u00a0and\u00a0one-off payments.\u00a0<\/p>\n Bear in mind that many councils haven't opened the application process for the next round of funding yet, so keep an eye out.<\/p>\n Millions are also in line to receive\u00a0cost of living\u00a0payments worth up to \u00a31,350.<\/p>\n The first instalment of the \u00a3900 payment has been paid to millions on certain benefits, including\u00a0Universal Credit\u00a0and\u00a0Pension Credit.<\/p>\n A further two payments are due in the Autumn later this year as well as Spring 2024.<\/p>\n Plus, pensioners who are entitled to a Winter Fuel Payment for winter 2023\/24 will get an extra \u00a3150 or \u00a3300 paid on top of their normal payment later this year.<\/p>\n Energy suppliers also offer plenty of energy grants and schemes to help you out if you're struggling.<\/p>\n You can get a grant from your energy supplier if you're really struggling and need help paying off debts.<\/p>\n Scottish Power, for example,\u00a0gives up to \u00a3750 per household to the\u00a0most hard-up households.<\/p>\n Most hardship funds have no deadline and you can apply all year round.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Meanwhile, those struggling can apply for\u00a0a range of schemes\u00a0that provide\u00a0free cash, vouchers and more and you could get thousands of pounds – see our full list.<\/p>\n Plus, here is the\u00a0full list of benefits that don't qualify\u00a0for the cost of living payments.<\/p>\n Do you have a money problem that needs sorting?
