'The View': Wendy Williams Has 'Insider Knowledge' About Meghan McCain's Replacement on Talk Show

Meghan McCain is leaving The View after four seasons on the show. The conservative co-host made the announcement at the beginning of July after much “thought and counsel and prayer.” After news broke, talks about who would be taking over the Republican side on the show have gone rampant. Wendy Williams is now claiming she has “insider knowledge” about McCain’s replacement after running into Joy Behar.

What does Wendy Williams know about ‘The View’ co-host replacement?

Williams is a fan of The View and she even credits her “Hot Topics” segment as an inspiration from the Barbara Walters talk show. The television personality revealed on the show that aired Monday, July 12 that she was at the Hampton’s over the weekend and ran into Behar. Williams would soon get all the tea from the comedian regarding McCain’s replacement.

“Don and I were at breakfast and Joy’s on the sidewalk and she’s like, ‘Hey,’” Williams recounted. “What I concluded is that Joy made it very clear to me [that] it’s going to be very difficult to replace Meghan. I’ve got insider knowledge. I know stuff.”

Williams didn’t go into more details about her conversation with Behar over McCain’s replacement. Instead, Williams said that Behar told her it was hard to watch her show and understand what she was saying over the noise and claps from her audience.

Why is Meghan McCain leaving ‘The View?’

McCain shocked viewers when she confirmed she was leaving The View after four seasons as a co-host. Her exit came after a string of controversies with her fellow co-hosts and on-air temper tantrums.

“I am just going to rip the Band-Aid off. I’m here to tell all of you, my wonderful co-hosts, and the viewers at home that this is going to be my last season,” McCain said at the top of the show. “Covid has changed the world for all of us, and it changed the way, at least for me, the way that I am looking at life, the way I’m living my life, the way I want my life to look like.”

McCain said that she liked her life in the D.C. area and going back to New York City was not what she had in mind after having a baby. However, she did say that being on the show was “one of the hands-down greatest, most exhilarating, wonderful privileges” of her life.

“It is a privilege to work alongside such strong, brilliant, intelligent, incredible broadcasters like the four of you,” she added. “You are the most talented women on all of television, hands-down, and it has been so incredible to be able to do this with you.”

I’ve never fit in a box and I never will. Live free or die.”
