The Real Reason ‘Counting On’ Fans Don’t Like Jinger Duggar’s Husband, Jeremy Vuolo

The Real Reason ‘Counting On’ Fans Don’t Like Jinger Duggar’s Husband, Jeremy Vuolo

Over the last few years, Jinger Duggar has earned the reputation of the Duggars’ most rebellious daughter. She married Jeremy Vuolo in 2016, and the two started their own life together that seems to stray a bit from her parents’ very traditional values. Though most fans like Jinger Duggar, some don’t like her husband nearly as much.

Duggar and Vuolo wed in 2016

Most of the Duggar daughters meet their husbands in one of two ways: They’re either introduced by their father, Jim Bob Duggar, or they meet through the family’s church. However, Duggar and Vuolo didn’t meet either of these ways. Vuolo met Jessa and Ben Seewald while the two were in Texas, and he later visited the couple in Arkansas, where he met Jinger for the first time. The two got to know each other but didn’t start courting right away, since they lived so far apart. However, after going on a mission trip together, Vuolo asked Jim Bob Duggar if he could court his daughter, and the two started a courtship. They only courted for about a month before Vuolo proposed, and they wed in November 2016.

They’ve started their own life together

Once Duggar and Vuolo wed, they branched off from the rest of the family and started a life that was a bit different than the other Duggars. They moved to Laredo, Texas, where Vuolo was a pastor, and Duggar became a bit more modern. She started wearing pants and tank tops, and she recently dyed her hair. The couple also just decided to move to Los Angeles so Vuolo could take graduate classes, which is a notoriously liberal city. So far, the two seem to be greatly enjoying themselves in their new home; Duggar even referenced their daughter, Felicity, becoming a soccer player when she grows up (something that’s always been unheard of for the Duggar women).

Fans think Vuolo is a bit narcissistic and doesn’t give Duggar a voice

Although Vuolo is similar to the Duggar family in his religious values, some fans think he’s a bit narcissistic. Reddit users suggest that Vuolo is a bit full of himself, possibly because he’s what some might describe as “long, tan, and handsome.” They don’t find him any different from others in the family in terms of his beliefs and the way he suppresses his wife. “Jinger needs his permission to wear [pants]. [Vuolo] could decide tomorrow that he doesn’t want Jinger to wear pants anymore and she would have to oblige,” one user posted to Reddit. Others agreed, suggesting Vuolo is no more liberal than, say, Derick Dillard.

Others think Duggar and Vuolo are the only two who are truly happy together

While some Counting On fans think Vuolo is just as suppressive as other men in the family, others think he is much more liberal. He wanted them to move to Los Angeles, and he always seems to rave about Duggar on his Instagram posts. Plus, he seems crazy about his daughter, and some find that Duggar and Vuolo appear to be the only Duggar couple who are truly happy together. He’s also always holding Felicity, which shows that he tries to be a hands-on parent. While we don’t know the ins and outs of their relationship, we can only hope that while the two are out in Los Angeles, Vuolo lets Duggar call a few of the shots and do a few things for herself.
