The Girl Before viewers all say the same thing after spotting Eastenders star in new BBC thriller

VIEWERS watching the new BBC thriller The Girl Before got very excited when they spotted some familiar faces.

The four-part psychological thriller series tells the story of Jane, who gets the chance to move into a beautiful house designed by an enigmatic architect.

But there's a catch – the occupants must abide by his odd list of rules.

The plot revolves around Jane, who starts to feel the house changing her in unexpected ways.

However, when she makes the shocking discovery about her predecessor Emma, she's forced to confront unnerving similarities.

As the two women's timelines interweave, Jane begins to question if her fate will be the same as the girl before.

The adaptation of JP Delaney's bestselling novel boasts a star-studded cast, including Loki star Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Selma's David Oyelowo and former EastEnders actors Jessica Plummer and Ben Hardy.

The EastEnders stars play a couple in the series, with Ben portraying Emma's boyfriend Simon.

Real-life couple Jess and Ben caught the attention of viewers who were excited to see some of their Walford favourites.

But they weren't the only Eastenders stars spotted in the drama, with fans seeing Amanda Drew who played May Wright and Rakhee Thakrar who starred as Shabnam Masood.

"This is a full on Eastenders reunion," wrote on fan on Twitter.

Another asked: "How many ex Eastenders are in this?'

And a third observied: "Half the cast are from Eastenders. So far we have, Peter Beale, Dr May Wright and Shabnam Masood. I'm half expecting Dot to make an appearance."

Jess and Ben confirmed their romance last week.

The Sun first revealed the pair had grown close in the summer after hitting it off filming their BBC drama The Girl Before.

Earlier this week the loved-up stars were pictured in a steamy clinch beside a taxi near London's Soho House.

Two days later they attended the screening for their new series which is released on December 19.

Jessica – who played tragic Chantelle Atkins in the soap – and Ben – who played Ian Beale’s son Peter – dropped hints of romance by liking each other’s Instagram pictures.

Since quitting EastEnders in 2015, Ben has gone on to crack Hollywood, with roles in X Men: Apocalypse, Bohemian Rhapsody and Netflix movie 6 Underground with Ryan Reynolds.

However, he didn’t overlap with Jessica, 28, on the soap as she only joined for a year as Chantelle before being killed off by her evil serial killer husband Gray in 2020.

She appeared on last year’s I’m A Celebrity, coming 7th and shares a daughter Noa, 6, with her ex boyfriend.

Ben, 30, split with ex girlfriend, actress Olivia Cooke, earlier this year, with friends telling The Sun: “Olivia and Ben were smitten to begin with but the intensity soon fizzled out. They’re at pivotal points in their acting careers and just couldn’t make it work.”

The Girl Before premieres on BBC One on Sunday, December 19 at 9pm
