By now, everyone knows that Lisa Vanderpump, one of the OGs of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, has decided to leave the show. In fact, she is so done with the franchise that she even skipped this year’s reunion.
Vanderpump had a pretty rough season of RHOBH. All of the women turned on her after Dorit Kemsley got a dog from Vanderpump’s Vanderpump Dogs Foundation, only to later give it away.
After Vanderpump’s big blow up with the cast, she refused to film with them, causing her to get cut out of a lot of episodes.
“Lisa is extremely hurt that several scenes that she filmed for RHOBH have been cut because it’s all about her philanthropy work which she loves to proudly show off,” a source close to the show told HollywoodLife. “She feels that since there’s no drama, they got cut, but she wants to show off that side of her life and is really disappointed that those scenes got cut because that’s a big part of her life as a real housewife.”
Why did Vanderpump say that she quit?
While filming, the restauranteur was still trying to heal from her brother’s sudden, unexpected death. Because of this, she wasn’t in the headspace to deal with all of the usual Real Housewives drama.
Before going into the season, she even asked for a year off.
“[Andy] said, ‘You know, I think we should’ve given you a year off when you asked for it,’” she once told Entertainment Tonight. “He said, ‘I don’t think you were in a mental state where you were really prepared to deal with it,’ it was very emotional … ‘With hindsight, we probably should’ve given you the year off.’”
This season got to be too much for Vanderpump, so she decided to do what was best for her.
“I made the decision to leave,” she told Us Weekly. “It was a very difficult year for me, personally and professionally. I had wonderful things happen this year, opening up and TomTom and the cocktail garden in Vegas. The Housewives, it’s just, it’s emotionally too difficult to deal with.”
Why do the other women think Vanderpump really left?
During the RHOBH reunion, the rest of the women had a lot of opinions about Vanderpump’s absence.
“I think [Lisa Vanderpump] should be here,” Camille Grammer said.
When asked why she thought Vanderpump was missing, she gave a completely different reason than the Vanderpump Rules star did.
“She’s pissed about Brandi [Glanville],” Grammer said.
“[She’s pissed] that Brandi showed up on the show,” she continued. “Absolutely. [Brandi]’s her archenemy. She feels so betrayed.”
“I’m just assuming and I could absolutely be wrong, but she felt that throughout this season, you’ve had her back, Denise [Richards]. And with you talking to Brandi — Brandi’s her archenemy.”
Vanderpump hasn’t responded to these claims, however, her husband Ken Todd has come out to publicly defend his wife.
On his birthday, he tweeted a long message about the hypocrisy of the women turning their backs on Vanderpump when she needed them most.
“Their pettiness says everything,” he wrote. “There are so many things WE could’ve said but haven’t…So it’s not just Goodbye Kyle [Richards] that I want to say…it’s goodbye to all of the vicious nastiness…there I feel much better now. Happy birthday to me.”
