Piers Morgan latest LIVE – Dramatic Meghan Markle racism row with Alex Beresford see fans urge GMB to SACK host

GOOD Morning Britain bosses have been urged to sack Piers Morgan after he stormed off set live on air

Piers had a dramatic row with GMB co-host Alex Beresford this morning over his reaction Meghan Markle's bombshell suicide and racism comments during her interview with Oprah Winfrey.

Alex spoke calmly about his view on the royals' bombshell Oprah interview, and criticised Piers for his coverage on the breakfast show yesterday.

"I understand that you don't like Meghan Markle, you've made it so clear a number of times on this programme. I understand you've got a personal relationship with Meghan Markle, or had one and she cut you off," he said.

"Has she said anything about you since she cut you off? I don't think she has, but yet you continue to trash her," Alex added.

The comments clearly touched a nerve as Piers dramatically stood up and stormed off set, saying said: "Okay, I'm done with this… I can't do this"

Exasperated Alex responded: "Absolutely diabolical behaviour, I'm sorry but Piers spouts off on a regular basis and we all have to sit here and listen.

Piers has faced calls for his sacking following the outburst, with ITV boss Carolyn McCall refusing to deny he could lose his GMB job.

Addressing the backlash, in particular Piers' refusal to believe Meghan felt suicidal, Carolyn admitted: "We are dealing with that as we speak.”

    SPARKING FURY

Piers, 55, sparked outrage this week after continuing to slam the former actress, claiming he didn’t believe she was left feeling suicidal.

A series of petitions, which have previously been created calling for Piers to be axed, once again gathered traction on change.org.

The biggest one is not far off its 150k target, while another is rapidly rising and asking for an Ofcom investigation.

It states: “OFCOM need to investigate Piers Morgan for Bullying and Racism towards Meghan Markle and countless other subjects on GMB, and they need to also investigate ITV for supporting his disgusting behaviour.

    WHY WAS PIERS UPSET?

Piers and Meghan famously went for a drink in June 2016, around the time that she started dating Prince Harry, but he claims he never heard from her again.

Alex's remark clearly hit a nerve, with Piers dramatically standing up and saying: "Okay, I'm done with this."

PIERS SAID HE DIDN'T 'BELIEVE A WORD' MEGHAN SAID

Piers had no sympathy for Meghan Markle and ranted on the ITV breakfast show Good Morning Britain: "Who did you go to? What did they say to you?

"I don't believe a word she says, Meghan Markle. I wouldn't believe a weather report if she read it.

"The fact she has expressed an onslaught against our Royal Family is contemptible."

    GETTING PERSONAL

Alex continued to Piers: "I understand that you don't like Meghan Markle, you've made it so clear a number of times on this programme.

"I understand you've got a personal relationship with Meghan Markle, or had one and she cut you off… She's entitled to cut you off if she wants to.

"Has she said anything about you since she cut you off? I don't think she has, but yet you continue to trash her."

MEGHAN TOLD OPRAH 'I DIDN'T WANT TO BE ALIVE ANYMORE'

During her tell-all chat with Oprah Winfrey, Meghan revealed she had previously had suicidal thoughts.

The Duchess of Sussex, 39, said she begged for help but was told she would not be able to seek help as it "wouldn't be good for the institution."

Breaking down in tears during the interview which aired on CBS on Sunday night and ITV the following evening, Meghan said: "I just didn't see a solution.

"I didn't want to be alive anymore."

    WHAT DID ALEX SAY?

Speaking on GMB this morning, Alex Beresford said "I watched the programme yesterday and yes, they had some great press around the wedding but what press is going to trash someone's special day?

"There was bad press around the engagement, before the engagement, and everything that has followed since has been incredibly damaging, quite clearly to Meghan's mental health and also to Harry.

"I hear Piers say that William has gone through the same thing but siblings experience tragedy in their life and one will be absolutely fine and brush it off, and the other will not be able to deal with it so strongly and that is clearly what has happened with Prince Harry in this situation.

"He walked behind his mother's coffin at a tender, tender age in front of the globe – that is going to shape a young boy for the rest of his life so I think we all need to take a step back."

    ROW ON AIR

Before the dramatic argument this morning, Alex spoke calmly about his view on the royals' bombshell Oprah interview, and criticised 55-year-old Piers for his coverage on the breakfast show yesterday.

But Piers refused to listen, eventually snapping and saying: "I'm not having this" as he left the set.

The pair were visibly frosty from the off, with the two having a tense exchange at the start of the show when Piers told Alex "hold on, we'll come to you in a sec" after Susanna Reid said that they were going to him for his view on the chat.
