Is Paula Wilcox's character going to expose Geoff's abuse in Coronation Street?

Newcomer Elaine stunned Yasmeen when she visited her in prison and told her she’d been abused by Geoff too.

And now official spoilers have revealed that Elaine calls Alya and agrees to give evidence against Geoff in court next week on the soap.

Her brave decision comes shortly after Yasmeen suffers a heart attack from stress on the day of her trial.

But when Geoff discovers that Elaine is further damaging his reputation, he flies into a rage and threatens to get her arrested if she doesn’t leave the cobbles.

Will Geoff manage to scare Elaine away or will he only fuel her fire?

Speaking to, Ian Bartholomew – who plays Geoff – hinted that Elaine could expose dark secrets from the Metcalfe’s family history: “Geoff has basically lied to his son Tim for years about the relationship with his mother, Geoff’s first wife. I believe we’ll explore things with Geoff and Tim a little deeper.

“I always wanted to do that, it would be good to find out more about their past. It could be the key to how the story develops.”

Will Paula Wilcox's character Elaine bring about Geoff’s downfall?

Corrie bosses are yet to confirm whether Elaine’s involvement in the coercive control storyline will secure Geoff’s downfall, but that hasn’t stopped fans hoping it’ll be enough to put the monster behind bars.

One fan tweeted: “Elaine was abused, too! More than one victim. Awesome. Bye Geoff. #Corrie.”

A second viewer said: “Yasmeen you need to listen to Elaine. She has been through the same things that you have been through. It's enough to send Geoff down for good if police got wind of it.”

A third viewer added: “Elaine is the hero we’ve all been waiting for. can’t wait for Geoff to finally be exposed for what he is #corrie.”

Corrie producer Ian MacLeod has already confirmed that Geoff will meet his downfall this year.

He previously said: "What form that comeuppance takes is still in discussion. We wanted a redemptive ending ultimately for Yasmeen."

Adding that he, Ian and Shelley had been in correspondence with real-life abuse victims, Ian continued: "For the sake of all those people, we have to tell the right ending with some positivity and optimism."

What else has actress Paula Wilcox starred in?

Actress Paula Wilcox has been a fixture on our screens for decades and first appeared on the cobbles in 1969 as Janice, the youngster sister of Tracy Barlow’s father Ray Langton.

The star went on to appear in a number of 1970s sitcoms including The Lovers and the sitcom The Liver Birds.

Will Elaine turn Tim against Geoff in Coronation Street?

Corrie fans are baffled as to how Tim Metcalfe hasn’t put two and two together and realised Geoff has been abusing Yasmeen after witnessing a number of suspicious events.

One blaring sign occurred when Tim found Yasmeen locked in Geoff’s magic box after he heard her crying out.

He also walked in on Geoff deleting footage from his laptop of his final argument with Yasmeen – and didn’t say a word.

But with his wife Sally having very vocally sided with Yasmeen – and now with Elaine coming forward – might Tim to finally realise his dad is a monster?

Joe Duttine – who plays Tim – has teased that his character is getting closer to turning against his dad Geoff as Yasmeen’s trial looms.

Speaking to Inside Soap, the actor said: "Remember that Tim isn't aware of what the rest of the nation knows about Geoff.

"Tim only reacts to the interactions he has with his dad, and he doesn't want to believe that he could do anything wrong. Some families have to close ranks and protect their own, which is what Tim is doing. But I think Tim is starting to feel as if something isn't quite right."

The actor added: "Tim will see cracks in the picture he has of Geoff."

"It's a slow burn, and Tim's remaining loyal to his dad until the stage he can no longer do so. We may be getting closer to that stage.”

But with Corrie keeping exact plot details hidden, fans will have to tune in to find out whose side Tim decides to take.
