The Screen Actors Guild Awards 2021 was like none other before as Hollywood’s best-known stars got dressed to the nines for the first-ever virtual and pre-recorded ceremony. Among the biggest names dominating the awards categories were Netflix dramas The Crown, Ozark and The Trial of the Chicago 7 while Schitt’s Creek, Ted Lasso and Judas and the Black Messiah were just a few of the other titles in the running for a number of awards.

Ozark specifically, however, had racked up an impressive four nominations overall for its hugely talented cast.

Marty Byrde star Jason Bateman was up against the likes of Rege-Jean Page (Bridgerton) and Bob Odenkirk (Better Call Saul) in the Male Actor in a Drama Series category.

Meanwhile, Julia Garner and Laura Linney were both up for Female Actor in a Drama Series, competing with Olivia Colman, Emma Corrin and Gillian Anderson who all received nods for their roles in The Crown.

And as recognition of the entire cast’s flawless work in the third season of the Netflix drama, Ozark bagged a nomination in the Ensemble in a Drama Series category.

As the SAG Award winners were announced, however, the only award of the evening for Ozark went Bateman’s way for his portrayal of Marty Byrde.

However, it didn’t stop thousands of fan across the globe from showing their support for the series as it narrowly missed out on a handful of other prizes.

And following the news, Jonah Byrde star Gaertner took to social media to share a lengthy statement thanking fans ahead of the fourth and final season of Ozark.

Donning his SAG Awards suit, Gaertner penned to his 26.4k Instagram followers: “I just want to say that being an actor during our crazy times is a huge honour.”

He continued: “I’ve heard from a few people that the work we do has provided a much-needed escape as everyone just tries to make it through.

“So thanks to everyone for choosing Ozark to be a part of your lives.

“You’re the reason that we’re able to look forward to yet another great season.”

The Ozark star signed off his post with a series of hashtags: “#sagaftra #sagawards #sag @mrc_entertainment @netflix @ozark.”

Inevitably, it didn’t take long for Ozark fans and cast members to reply to the actor’s kind words to his supporters.

“Sky!!!!! This outfit!!!! So handsome!!!!” Madison Thompson, who plays Erin Pierce on the show, replied.

“Good luck tonight! Can’t wait for season 4!” one fan replied with a second adding: “Looking forward to more Ozark. You do a great job!”

And a third weighed in: “It’s fantastic and your acting is phenomenal. Thank you!”

Gaertner will be back alongside Bateman, Linney and Garner in the fourth and final season of Ozark.

The last fans saw of Jonah he was left an emotional wreck after discovering the truth about his uncle Ben’s (Tom Pelphrey) death.

After sparing wicked lawyer Helen Pierce (Janet McTeer) and filled with rage, Jonah ended up shooting his own home to pieces.

But will he take his anger out on his parents in season four? Fans will have to wait to find out.

Ozark seasons 1-3 are available to stream on Netflix now.
