Sara Davies and her professional dance partner Aljaz Skorjanec were sadly eliminated from Strictly Come Dancing on Sunday night. The dance duo found themselves in the bottom two, facing the dreaded dance-off against Tilly Ramsay and Nikita Kuzmin. All four judges chose to save Tilly and Nikita, meaning Sara and Aljaz lost their place in the BBC dance competition. In a recent interview, Sara opened up about the experience, confessing she didn’t want to speak to Aljaz after they left the show.

On Monday night, Sara and Aljaz were welcomed onto the Strictly spin-off show It Takes Two.

Presenter Rylan quizzed the couple about their time in the competition.

“I’m so gutted you’ve gone, so gutted you’ve gone. How are you feeling?” Rylan asked.

Sara replied: “Well, I spent yesterday being really gutted and wallowing and feeling sorry for myself.”

Gesturing towards Aljaz, she confessed: “He kept trying to ring us and I was like ‘No, I’m really not going to talk to you because that’s just going to make us cry even more’.

“Even my five year old kept saying ‘Mummy, why are you crying? Grown ups shouldn’t cry’.

“So, I had a word with myself this morning and this lovely man took me for lunch and I feel a lot better,” Sara explained.

Rylan said: “Good. Well, you both look well and you sound good which is what’s the most important thing.

“I am gutted because Saturday night, let’s go back there, you were in my eyes fantastic.

“I loved the dance. It was intense, there was passion. How was it feeling for you?” The presenter asked.

“This is the dance I’ve looked forward to doing the whole series. It’s so many people’s favourite and it’s so intensive,” Sara commented.

The star also revealed she had great fun learning the routine, insisting: “It’s been, without a shadow of a doubt, my highlight week on Strictly.”

“It was so gorgeous to watch,” Rylan remarked, praising the couple for their performance.

“I think that Argentine tango was a result of 10 weeks of training really,” Aljaz commented.

Highlighting his dance partner’s hard work, he explained: “The way you threw yourself into that storytelling.

“You know, Sara and I didn’t have a single blip in the process of rehearsals. Not one argument, not one misunderstanding,” he added.

The remaining contestants will take to the dance floor once again next Saturday when Strictly returns with Musicals Week.

The celebrities will be performing a variety of musical theatre themed dance routines.

Strictly Come Dancing continues Saturday at 6:35pm on BBC One.
