The NCIS team’s loyalties will be tested in next week’s episode when G. Callen (played by Chris O’Donnell) goes under the wire after being exposed as a Russian double agent. While some viewers are assuming the special operative has been set up, the action-packed CBS series may not ever be the same if Callen is found guilty.

A brand new trailer for NCIS Los Angeles’ 11th episode of season 12, ‘Russia Russia Russia’, has some fans convinced G. Callen is about to betray his whole team.

This week saw Callen and his partner Sam Hanna (LL Cool J) finally take down his daughter’s kidnappers after the series took a midseason break back in January.

However, all eyes were glued to the teaser trailer for next week’s episode, which turned everything they thought they knew about the series upside down.

In the brand new footage, special agent Callen is taken into custody when he’s accused of being a double agent working for the Russians.

DOJ Deputy Chief Effie Carlson (Nicki Micheaux) asks him: “I wanna know how long you’ve been working for the Russians?”

Callen initially answers ‘Seriously?’ But, the trailer quickly takes a dark turn when the agent decides to turn himself in.

Marty Deeks (Eric Christian Olsen) is also heard saying: “Everything we’ve built here is in jeopardy.”

As it currently stands, it appears as if Callen has deceived his whole team since the series began.

With enemies on all sides closing in, if Callen is, in fact, a double agent, he may have no choice but to abandon NCIS for the rest of the series.

The dramatic new teaser undoubtedly drew strong reactions from fans as Los Angeles’ leading agent seems to have been lying from the very beginning.

On Twitter, one fan exclaimed: “The next NCIS Los Angeles trailer? What the actual?!

“What is going on? Everything going through my mind right now.”

And another user wrote: “Callen is a double agent? Oh heck no!”

An imposing shot of a hooded Callen appearing to interrogate or threaten someone out of shot has also set alarm bells off that he could be about to reveal his darker self.

So far this season, Callen has been struggling to work up the courage to ask his girlfriend, Anna Kolcheck (Bar Paly) to marry him.

Both Callen and Anna are the children of Russian KGB agents, so it appears their pasts could be coming back to haunt them in the coming episode.

Callen was unable to receive a blessing from Anna’s father, Arkady (Vyto Ruginis), and she suddenly disappeared when he finally got the nerve to propose despite her father’s wishes.

Most fans will be able to see past the ruse of the new trailer, though there’s still a chance NCIS: Los Angeles is about to pull out the biggest twist of the series so far.

‘Russia, Russia, Russia’ will also serve as principal star Daniel Ruah’s directorial debut, so who better to deliver NCIS LA season 12’s shocking reveal than Callen’s fellow agent, Kensi Blye?

NCIS Los Angeles season 12 continues Sunday, February 21 on CBS.
