Love Island’s Megan Barton Hanson has quit The Big Celebrity Detox at the beginning of the second episode as she said she has “so much work to do” on herself.
Megan sat down with her fellow celebrities on the retreat and explained her reasons for leaving the show, including that she needs more of a “traditional sense of therapy”.
Meghan shocked her fellow contestants as she said: “It has just been so hard, mentally and physically.”
She continued: “I can’t fully invest in the treatments because I’ve got so much work to do on myself before I can be here. I feel like I’m not ready.
“I feel like I’ve got too much going on in my mind that I need to work on in a more traditional sense of therapy, before I can put myself through this extreme drinking wee, being sick.
“I can’t see myself growing. I’m very stubborn and my mind is made up. Maybe I’m not ready for this. It’s about being vulnerable and accepting that vulnerability in myself.”
Megan then left in the first 5 minutes of the second episode after The Big Celebrity Detox kicked off on Monday, May 15.
Other celebrities taking on various “spiritual” challenges include Kerry Katona, Princess Olga Romanoff, Martin Roberts, Toby Aromolaran, David Potts, Michael Venom Page, and Chloe Veitch.
The reality show sees celebs taking on unconventional ways of becoming more vulnerable as the first challenge included drinking their own urine.
This shook up a lot of the celebrities taking part, not just Love Island's Megan who decided it was all too much for her.
The second challenge was arguably worse than the first as the contestants took part in a “Pinon Blanco ceremony” where they ate seeds and drank masses of water in order to throw up on purpose.
Olga was unable to partake in that challenge due to medical reasons, however, all the other stars said they would get involved as they sat with a bucket and prepared themselves to throw up.
The Big Celebrity Detox expert Chris said: “It's not as bad as it sounds… even the vomiting, you will enjoy it.”
Chloe, who was previously on the Netflix show Too Hot Too Handle, looked keen to give the challenge her best shot, while former Love Island contestant Megan said the task was “pushing her to her limits”.
As the show continues, the stars will be taking part in more extreme and questionable challenges, including snail facials for anti-aging and open grave therapy and snake massages.
The Big Celebrity Detox is on at 9pm Monday- Thursday on E4.
