After Amy Day's Love Island debut, she's hoping to return to the screen – but this time perhaps for a longer time – with a stint on Hollyoaks.

The beauty has spent years perfecting her performing career, having worked on cruise ships and appearing on an episode of Channel 4's Humans, and now she's ready for her next big role.

Speaking to Daily Star Online, Amy expressed her dream to head into acting full time, with a particular focus on Hollyoaks and the McQueen family.

She said: "The dream has always been a West End gig or TV show, something like Hollyoaks or EastEnders, that's always been the dream.

"Hollyoaks would be my goal, I'd love to play the villain, someone who is up to no good, or someone trying to sabotage people.

"I'd love to be a McQueen. They're up to no good but they're everyone's favourite at the same time, I think everyone wants to be a McQueen really."

Amy confessed that she would love to meet up with Amber Davies to pick her brain, adding: "She has an amazing career. I'd love to get her pearls of wisdom."

The beauty has set her clear focus on heading onto the screen once again, but maybe not with her love life on full display after she was left mortified over her romance with Hugo Hammond.

Amy left the villa as one of the least-voted for couples as the islanders had the final say on the one boy and one girl which they would like to save – and both Amy and Hugo got the boot.

Although she initially appeared happy to be leaving with Hugo, that soon changed after he said his experience was "tragic" and his romance with Amy imminently ended.

She said: "I think it was the fact that he didn't even think to say, 'Oh yeah, me and Ames might go for a coffee, see how things go', it was just an immediate friendzone."

Amy added that she was "completely shocked" by Hugo's decision and didn't realise he didn't want to continue things between them until their exit interview.

Ultimately both Amy and Hugo left the villa single, and it's not looking like they will rekindle their romance anytime soon.
