Linda Robson breaks silence on being banned from hosting Loose Women

Linda Robson explains the 'worst thing' you can do on I'm A Celeb

The Birds of a Feather actress has been part of the Loose Women panel for more than a decade and she’s known for being extremely candid during discussions.

Despite the 65-year-old being a regular fixture on the ITV programme, she has never anchored the show.

Her colleagues Kaye Adams, Christine Lampard and Ruth Langsford usually host the programme and keep the rest of the panel in order.

Linda has now broken her silence to share the reason she has not been allowed to host Loose Women.

She admitted she had asked ITV bosses to let her host the show to no avail.

The star told The Sun: “I did ask once if I could be the anchor on Loose Women.

“They said, ‘Are you joking? You’ll end up swearing or something. No, you can’t’.”

While she claimed her request was denied, she stressed: “It’s like going to work with your mates every day, and we’re all very supportive of each other.”

Loose Women recently bid farewell to longtime panellist Carol McGiffin who first appeared on the show in 2000.

The ITV star told Best earlier this month: “The problem was, ITV were insisting, for the first time since I went back in 2018, that if I wanted to carry on doing the show, I would have to sign a contract that was totally unjust and unworkable for me, so I had to say, ‘No thanks’.

“I feel quite upset about it, if I’m honest, because although it is my decision, I felt like it was one I was being forced to make.”

It has been reported some Loose Women stars are being told to move to a PAYE contract which means they’d have to pay 21 percent more tax on earnings between £50,271 and £150,000.

An ITV spokesperson said: “ITV will not comment on or disclose details of individual contracts but all ITV contracts comply with the relevant external legislation.”

Loose Women airs on weekdays at 12.30pm on ITV and ITV after This Morning.
